GG BB,

Your running attack is amazing, I even put in a defensive plan to try and stop it. I didn't come close and it showed, 200+ against us but we managed enough to get the a very close win.

20-18 win

GG Brooklyn

Both teams had 3 scoring possessions. All 3 of mine were field goals and all 3 of our opponent's were touchdowns. The two teams had very similar box scores, but Brooklyn was able to capitalize on their chances whereas we were not. Brooklyn's stout defensive front took a toll on us, the running game was once again ineffective and Irv Clements was under pressure all game long. We've been pretty poor on 3rd down this year, definitely something we need to address in the gameplan.

GG Tuscon

Another week another loss in heartbreaking fashion. Last week Tennessee won by scoring 10 points in the final 2 minutes including a 54 yard hail Mary to win. This week Glen Tuck was able to lead Tuscon on a 9 play 80 yard 2 minute drive. Although I'm disappointed in the loss I'm impressed with Tuck and I'm impressed with my defense. We just need to find some level of rhythm on offense and we'll be alright.

At Durham hoping to get more from our passing game and tighten up the tackling in the secondary against a tough QB and great route running receivers.

DUR dinked and dunked a bit before QB Brandon took off for a 54 yard scramble TD. We made it to the orange one but ended up punting it into the endzone. Our doulbe coverage couldn't stop the Brandon-Hazan conenction and they were adding chunks on the ground as well converring a 3rd and long at midfield on their way to a FG. We got a ncie 50 yard YAC play from midfield ourselves to set up 1st and goal but couldn't knock it in after getting to the 1 yard line so we came away with just 3 points.

DUR again was getting chunk gains and was in our RZ quick but we got the INT and a 91 yard TD return to tie things up. Penalties helped us get a stop but back to back holding calls follwoed by a strip sack set DUR up at our 17 and retook a 3 point lead. Back to back punts were followed by a nice PR to set us up at midfield. We got a few gains but sputtered out and tied things up at the two minute warning.

DUR was bottling up our runnign game and grinding us out so far. We threw an arm punt to open the 2nd half, and DUR worked jthe intermediate routes also knocking our longtime stud cover S Lindsay out before getting bottled up and grabbing a 3 point lead. We converted a 3rd and 14 and were lucky to recover a fumble on a scramble but punted it away leaving DUR at their 6. Familiars stopped DUR next drive and they were lucky to avoid a safety. We had asloppy set of plays either losing yarage, taking penalties or getting YAC and again had a 2nd down inside their 5 yard line this time grabbing 7 and a 4 point lead. Storng runs got DUR to midfield and they scored on a playaction YAC play from midfield to retake the 3 point advantage at the end of the 3rd.

We got across midfield but QB Terhorst lost another fumble on a scramble but DUR couldn't capitalize as they went 3andO after a holding call. We had to punt it back as we jsut couldn't get more than 3 yards on a play but DUR also couldn't do anything so we were getting another chance with more than 10 minutes left. This time we finally got our MO going grinding out solid gains with timely possession passing but we couldn't sustain it inside FG range and were fortunate to make the longer FG and tie things up with 4 minutes left. DUR was now 13/41 passing but converted a huge 3rd and 10 going up top to cross midfield but coudln't advance it and they punted it into the endzone. We got one intermeiate completion before another arm punt from TErhorst (4 meaningful TOs thus far) gave it back to DUR with 2 minutes left. THey were aided by our penalties and connected on a 42 yarder for the lead with 46 seconds left. We threw a screen pass (I am an idiot) and then got a deep completion to get us to their 42 with 27 seconds left before a DPI got us to their 4 with 15 seconds left and we fucking ran it in for the win!

This was a weird game but certainly exciting. On both a per play and raw production basis we were pretty even but we had a -4 TO margin (really -3 as 1 INT was at the en of the half). DUR went 19 for 150 on teh ground and even if you discount the QB runs whcih were over 10 ypc the back had almost 6 ypc but only got 9 touches. Meanwhile we love our 2-3 yards and a cloud of dust with our lead back going 22 for 73.

DUR QB Brandon went an atrocious 17/48 for 204 yards but if you add in teh scrambles then it is a jsu tmerely bad 25/56 for nearly 300. Our QB went a pedestrian 20/36 for 236 but threw the 2 meaningful picks and also lsot 2 of his 3 fumbles.

It seeme like pass pressure was a surprising factor in this game and while each team only had 1 sack, we generated 10 hurries and 10 passed defensed while DUR also suffered 5 drops. Feel like we could have los tthis one by 2 scores or won by 20 without the TOs anyways glad to get the win and while our S Lindsay will miss some tiem we have 2 young Ss who need snaps anyways so no biggie.

We happened to break two big runs. That return by Whiteman got you the win. Kwan couldn't get it done to get us back in FG range.

GG Toots!

This game was actually closer than I anticipated. If we could have stopped Honolulu on third and really long.. . ...we might even have won the game!! We got some unexpected big plays and kept it close right down to the wire. Honolulu is a very good team, so maybe we are a bit better than I anticipated this year.

We aren't playing Great to start the season, but a win is a win is a win
Still lots to figure out about this team, and with WR Donovan Almodovar out for 17 weeks...things don't get any easier.
We barely escaped with this one
Need to get the offense in gear or we may have a long season
this was a tough game, You almost beat us with your backup QB
GL the rest of the season

It was a close game like I suspected it would be. Tennessee is a really good team. This game could be a potential CFL Bowl matchup later this season.

My offense wasn't perfect, but we got the job done by scoring 2 more points than Tennessee. Cooper Allen had a pedestrian game with a QBR of 82.7. Morrison carried the ball 30 times, a little more than expected, for 99 yards. A little underwhelming but we'll take it. He's scored 3 TDs in 2 weeks running/catching.

Offense on 3rd down has been over 50% so far, which is excellent. Unfortunately our Defense has been allowing that as well. Defense has been giving up big plays again this week, we'll look to get this fixed against Oregon.

Week 3 against Oregon will be yet another tough game early in our schedule. They look to have one of the better defenses in this young season, so our Offense should really be put to test this game, and vice versa for their Defense. In a battle of Undefeated teams, we edge them by 3 points in the spread, same as last week against Tennessee.

In other news
, Alaska has started the season 0-2 and looks to get their first win at home in a Conference Championship rematch against Texas. Going to 0-3 won't be the end of the season for them, but it would be very alarming for them. Their defense has been getting roasted and Texas looks to do more of the same. We shall see if Jimmy M can continue to carry the team, or not.

GG Red Zone,

A defeat was expected, so I'm not too disappointed. The offense was decent, so I still have some hope with Washington as the QB. He had more TDs than interceptions and he fumbled only once.
TE Cameron Morrsion had a bad day, 2 catches for 10 targets and 3 drops. He's injured, so it could be the explanatation of his terrible game.
