Hosting a very solid Hartford squad with no discernible weakness on D and a pretty intimidating cadre of receiving weapons. They play slants and screens with a decent amount of counter runs mostly so it will be up to our tackling to contain them.

A penalty derails their first series and we dink and pound our way to 7 without needing a 3rd down conversion. They overcome the 1st holding call this time but the next too are too much. We get fancy in teh run game but ti backfires and we eat a sack on 3rd. We stuff them on 3rd and 1 to regain possession at the end of the 1st.

We get a chunk from TE O'Callaghan and then find Fence deep for 6. 3andO for HAR as we defend the line to gain very well. The run game keeps moving the chains and Mitchem converts a couple 3rd and longs before we dink our way to a 21 point lead. Another 3andO from HAR but Crabtree can't separate even when he does catch it and a nice PR gives HAr a chance to get back inthe game. We knock Barker out of the game and get another TD int eh 2 minute drill.

297 to 98 in yardage adn the score reflects that at the half.

Those penalties derailed any chance HAR might of had but really this was just a bad day for them and a great day for us.

Sutter is out 18 weeks so we are definitely glad we decided to get LB Bishop from BOS last minute. Glad Barker's injury doesn't look too serious.

Tallied another loss in Cleveland, by 3 points. We logged a pick six and three sacks, with a lot of action in Cleveland's backfield, but still 0-2. Coach has been seen drinking heavily...

Wow. What a defensive performance that was. We didn't allow a 3rd or 4th down conversion. DE Kramer with a 5 sack performance and his cohort DE Nielson gets one sack and TWO Ints! How the hell does that even happen? Offense didn't have to do much to win this one. Still work to do there.

GG Bob. I did not expect that defense showing up today.

More things to change but I like what I'm seeing so far... Always a good time debuting a new offensive GP against the defending champs.

This is more of what I expected from this team. We were horrid.

Rookie QB it's all yours.

I see you were working the 3-headed approach in the backfield, but you need to clean up those familiars out of the 221.

Our offense still needs some tweaking but the defense really thrived today with 2 pick-6's and the rookie Hargreaves claimed game MVP in just his second start.

We're still working on the LB rotation and think we figured that out. It's looking like our 3rd o-line configuration up next in Week 3 - I'm hoping we can figure this one out fairly quickly.

GG - BazookaJohnny

We're never thrilled to go up against a QB like Kody Womble, but we had some good success against him this week with a couple of picks, one for six.

Our rookie MLB, Carlson, contributed another key play this week, nabbing one of the interceptions late in the game on a deep throw from Womble to Sheldon.

Our defense is looking solid; our offense passable. We'll certainly be put to the test next week in our perennial early season matchup against Brooklyn. We've been playing Brooklyn too much recently - in the past few seasons - 4 times (2x in the playoffs). Brooklyn has the edge in that span at 1-3, but we were the latest victors. I look forward to the battle.

Agreed. Especially for a non-division game. Brooklyn is really looking forward to next week. Staat is still smirking on the side-line after last year's playoffs.

This week (although it is only week 3) pits the top two running offenses that are separated by 0.5 yards. Who can stop the run and who can limit the unforeseeable plays (AKA penalties, turnovers and injuries)?

Also GG, Denver

Last week the CFL had a preview of Chandler Dole replacing Woodard (mid-drive) and he looked the part leading Denver to a TD and two point conversion. Meanwhile Woodford had a horrible game (even after looking at the participation grades in the log). Not a good omen for next week.

Good Luck Raven Hawk, hopefully we will see each other again this year,
Dean

The tweaks I made seemed to make things work better on offense.
We got a lead and then coasted in the 2nd half.
Very few teams can actually win with an all pass gameplan.
You may want to rethink that and work on a running game.
Or at least break the pass plays up evenly without so much downfield throwing.
Good Luck the rest of the season

GG, Mac88. You shut down our running game, but at the expense of leaving some passing lanes open for Ortiz to hit a few plays. Our defense stepped and played really well after a questionable effort week one.

Next up, we host Kansas City, who gave us our last regular season defeat in week nine last year.
