GG Aamalin

We decided to play the cheerleaders today or at least that's how it looks.

Good Luck the rest of the way.

The highly awaited matchup vs ELP for the division lead. They've built a terrifying offense and we decided to change it up and play mostly 2 high and just force them to go down the field with the only major change being putting the twitchier LB Anderson over TE McKenzie who has killed us in the past, if 3rd year FS Bates can finally play up to his bars then I like our chances but otherwise we may regret being so passive especially with those Ts probably negating the normal surplus value of our wide rush. On O, we hope to beat em up on the line with the undersized Allen and those low endurance NTs being our primary target and with those weak Ss ya gotta think we can break off some chunks.

Fence gets the first chunk as ELP comes out doubling but then we throw a pick on a screen to Crabtree. ELP coughs up but recovers their first handoff and then find Van Pelt downfield but we hold them to 3. Our shot completion to Gibbons gets called back on penalty but we get tackled short of the sticks on 3rd and 7. Our DBs get another 3rd down deflection to stop ELP-We get a nice run to to the edge but again it is called back and TE Stocz bails us out on 3rd and 19. ELP shows a 6 man rush but Crabtree brings it in and LB Shepherd gets a nasty injury. 2 mroe OL penalties knock us out of FG range so we settle for pinning them deep. 2 runs to the edge get them out quickly and 2 YAC plays gets them into FG range to close out the 1st Q.

They recover another fumble but our pas D shows up again on 3rd so they go up 6. Crabtree picks up a 3rd and has another couple intermediate gains wiht HOlzer doing the rest of the work on our way to the endzone. For what feels like the 4th time this season though we give up a 75 yard TD after scoring. Our own groudn game gets us to mdifield but we can't complete a manageable 3rd so ELP takes over. ELP battles a bit and booms a punt to effectively pin us with oru penalty. We get a couple grabs on the perimeter on 1st down and then Gibbons breaks away from teh double to get us to the orange zone but the FG attempt fails. Sullivan slides away from pressure and finds Rodriguez on 3rd and 20 but we pick them on teh next play. We get soem short stuff in the minute drill but our FG attempt is partially blocked.

Down 6 with the 75 yarder being the real difference, if we can start running and clean up penalties and ST we should make up the difference.

Barker keeps finding the edge for ELP but they stall otu at midfield. We recover a fumble on a run from Holzer and keep pounding with rookei RB Peters getting some nice chunks but Crabtree is tackled short on 3rd and 6 in teh RZ so we cut the deficit to 3. Former Sodbuster Cunningham takes the KR 86 yards to the house. Another coupel intermediate completions to the perimeter get su to midfield and Gibbons again breaks away from the double. Crabtree gets us inside the 10 on a screen but fumbles and we are luckyto recover and we find teh TD to make it a 3 point game once more. We catch Barker dancing and tackle McKenze on 3rd for the quick stop. We try Fence twice downfield but the coverage si solid both times and ELP takes over but can't get tehir own conversion as the 3rd Q ends.

We dinka nd pound a bit but coem up short on a 3rd down scramble but our D again forces the 3andO and a ncie PR puts us at the 50. Peters keeps getting carries and we convert a couple tight 3rds with the dinged up NT McDade leaving teh game. Holzer gets stacked up behidn the LoS and loses a fumble. Our D again stands on its head defendign the line to gain for 3 downs. Fence converts a couple 3rd and 9s as our runnign game is totally dry as we move into long FG range with 5 minutes left. We battle oru way to a 1st at their 1 and fianlly find paydirt on 3rd to put us up 4 at the 2 minute warning. ELP can't move it though as Sullivan gets stopped ona desperate 4th down scramble.

What a tense game. We won on 3rd in a big way 50% to 17%. We racked up 34 first downs in this game, with jsut 1 3andO on 13 possessions and only managed 24 points despite jsut one TO but we kept them off the field with nearly 40 minutes of possession.

Our pass D was jsut excellent as FS Bates put up a 98, great to see those cover DBs we have be able to matchup against that set of WRs. Our run D was very problematic giving up nearly 6 ypc even without the 75 yarder and we racked up 11 penalties to make things difficult but at the end of the day the W is what matters.

Weird to see 87 pas attempts betwen the 2 teams without a sack. Our own pass pro held them under a 10% rush but we had 4 misfires from Mitchems's arm which has been an issue all season. While both our rush and pass defense were over 20% and ELP was abysmal in the intermediate range.

Another classic landshark, here's to many more!

Ushikawa, your GP on both sides of the ball was excellent.. i've said before, you are one of the best i've seen in that regard.. i'd love to use the offensive gp in a game or two myself and see what happens... lol

i feel like we've had lots of chances to pull away from you this season, but you guys always find a way to win in the 4th quarter...

wondering, though.. how come your guys don't get tired.. i know you mix it up well, but,,, you had the ball for 40minutes thx to the 75 yd td run and long kickoff return.. and all your players were still fresh.. disappointed in rocketman this week.. he had some chances to be a hero, but couldn't really get anything going...looking forward to the rematch..

GG Denver.

Wasn't our best showing on Offense but somehow manage to put up 37 pts and hold Denver to 10. Bordano was confident - taking a punt return 92 yds for a TD.

Conference WC competition is looking to be an interesting one this year.

Rumor is there are bounties for El Paso's Rocketman and LT, Randle, and Fargo's Holzer and LB Bishop.

Well 3 of our OL are now tired (2 are perpetually tired but we give them games off once ina while like last week) and our backup RB was stealing snaps from Holzer in the 3rd quarter...normally Holzer is not nearly as good in the 2nd half of our games. We also throw in 104 and 203 and other formations once in a while without our core starters other than Crabtree who is a hoss.

Our D is rarely on the field enough for them to get tired and we (over)value endurance by a lot, other than our CBs and DT Bradford you won't find any concerns in our D personnel screen.
