Just a reminder to all CFLers:

Taco has modified the rule. See below.

I posted this in the "pink slip" thread, but I'll post it again here so that no one misses it...

Any owner can release players at any time. However, no team is allowed to sign the released players until next season. If a playoff team needs to sign a player (due to an injury to an existing player), they must sign a player who was not released by another team after the season ended. I don't anticipate any problems, but I'll glance at the transaction log after each stage to make sure everything is ok.

Let me know if anything is unclear or if anyone has concerns about this decision.

Perhaps we can create a thread where people post the players names who they release so that playoff teams can check it before the pick somebody up if they need to.

Does anyone know what the salary cap will be next year? Also at what point do you lose a pick? If I begin the next season over the cap will I lose my pick, or can I make cuts during free agency and still be ok?

Not sure on the salary cap. It will go up the same amount it did in the previous year, unless the old contract ran out.

You can be over the cap without losing a pick until the end of free agency.

So playoff teams cannot load up on decent players who were released after the end of the season for cap reasons.

Thanks!
