Hey, just checking in wondering if anyone was more in the path of this thing than I. I know GE is in Cleveland, MS, hope he is fine, it seems that way. I have lived nearly all of my life in North Mississippi, but have family all over the southern part of the state too. A sister in Hattiesburg had 3 trees hit her house. My good friend Jena had 4 trees hit her house near Hattiesburg. My grandparents in Jackson had 1 hit the house and 2 block the driveway. My friend in Jackson has a tree blocking the driveway, but he has a Subaru so no problem there. Luckily, he can afford an Impreza WRX STI, but I can only afford a Mazda MX-3. I will be heading down to help my friends and family sometime Tuesday or Wednesday, FOF and net access maybe completely cut off. I will post when I actually leave.

It struck here pretty hard and we were on the weak side of the system. It was just so big to affect Atlanta and here at the same. We had about 40 MPH winds for all of the night with some good gusts. No injuries that I know of but there were several fires and power outages. My own power went off and back on several times before going out for about four hours.

I live in Huntsville, AL and we got hit but not very hard.

I think we had wind gusts about 60-65 mph but sustained winds of only 40.

We had some trees split, power outages, etc.

The worst thing I had happen was it blew my trash can around a little bit.

Thoughts and prayers are with those who are MUCH worse off than I am today!

My parents live in New Orleans about a quarter of a block from the 17th Street canal. They are safe at the hospital where my Dad works. There is severe flooding near our home, and one of our neighbors was rescued last night by a helocopter.

Went down to Hattiesburg Tuesday and the town is a complete mess. I don't want to imagine what it looks like south of there. Hattiesburg is a little over 1 and a half hours from the coast. I will be leaving again early Thursday and will be gone til Friday most likely. Towns are running out of gas where there is electricity to run the gas stations.
