[quote855c9c5="Shooter"][quote855c9c5="TurfToe"][quote855c9c5="Shooter"][quote855c9c5="TurfToe"]I think our live chat sessions provide some of the best nickname opportunities. Since we usually have 2 a year or so, one of our goals should be to look for valid nicknames to assign.[/quote855c9c5]
I think they need to be earned. Maybe make the name changes a prize for the fantasy contest each year where the winner gets to add a nickname to his roster. Or add it as an incentive to show up for the live chats for games! It would invoke some more particpants and add a bit of fun to the league that I'm sure other leagues aren't doing.[/quote855c9c5]
An owner can't earn a player's nickname, the player needs to earn it. It doesn't matter who makes up the nickname, as long as it fits the player it should be applied. It also shouldn't happen that often either...[/quote855c9c5]
True, but an owner can earn the right to have it permanently changed within the game. [b855c9c5]Just like your boy Lenny Olsen. You wouldn't have had his name changed unless he earned the it.[/b855c9c5] It's kind of the honor system. By getting more GMs into the live chats, I also feel a few more nicknames may be earned as well. Just food for thought is all.[/quote855c9c5]
Glad you agree. Still don't see how an owner can earn a player's nickname. If they get it done on the field and live up to a certain nickname - award it. If it doesn't catch it's no good, if everyone knows who you're talking about (i.e. Polish Express, Motor Mouth, Jackpot) by nickname alone then it's a keeper.
If you need to win a fantasy challenge to get a nickname, it's time to focus on your team and the draft, not the good players found around the league not likely to be on your squad anytime soon.
Just your thought-food I regurgitated.
