GG JJ...

We have what I consider to be a bit of a break-out game for Shannon, and our defense plays TERRIBLE....

I'm always nervous when playing teams with a stud RB. THis time my gameplan worked, and Toothpick was mostly ineffective with a 2.7 average.

Man, I hate Oregon. I don't think I've ever been this mad about a loss. Somehow we gave up 415 yards to Kuhn and co.

The turning point was our left tackle getting hurt on the extra point after an early touchdown. After that our offense was horrible. Lin was 5 for 5 for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns as we went ahead 14-0 really quickly and then he went 7/24 for 78 yards the rest of the way until the final two minutes when we put together a too little, too late TD drive. Awful!

Worse than the offensive woes, the defensive failures were extrememly frustrating. We made Tommy Kuhn look like John Elway, going 21/27 for 247 and a td. Somehow he managed to not only beat us, but did it by going after our top cornerback repeatedly. Oregon isn't a team that runs much but they were effective against us including 3 straight runs to score after getting first and goal on the 9 on a fumble recovery, and even worse with about a minute to go we had them in a third and 8 situation where if we get a stop and call our last time out we actually have a shot to drive down for a fg and win. They broke an 11 yard run going right at our all pro linebacker Ginn.

I'm ready to declare gi a genius. He beats me regardless of how much better my team looks on paper. We were favored by 14.

[bba88d5e]Another[/bba88d5e] starting tackle lost for the season! :x

Even at this early stage I'd have to say this is a season lost to injury.... :(

Excellent, Dustin Hayes is becoming the quarterback we hoped he would be when we traded away Ernest Lorenzo. 218 yards, two touchdowns, and most importantly NO picks is a line I'll take every week...

Ok, I'm not sure what my coach was thinking on this one....

3-02-DUR02 (11:02) HAR 3 Oberg pass fell incomplete, intended for 34 Spearman.

DUR 33 Mills defended the pass.

Penalty: HAR - Offensive Holding.

3-12-DUR12 (10:56) HAR 3 Oberg pass completed to 85 Trail for 12 yards and a touchdown!

&The quarterback threw away from the double coverage.

Extra point by HAR 15 Richmond was good.

Why accept the penalty?

[quote89e09a2="Taco"]Why accept the penalty?[/quote89e09a2]

Perhaps because he's interested in exploring other career options?

Beats me - a 10-yard penalty from the 2 certainly wouldn't make a field goal any more difficult.

Well what are you waiting for?!?!

I'm shocked myself, but even after the team started 0-3, the attitude in the locker room was always upbeat. These guys really think they can win despite the fact that they have virtually no skill whatsoever.

They got spunk, I'll tell you that.

How soon before we will see a "Got Spunk?" t-shirt at the CFL Store?

Dola!

On a relative note, I did have Chinese last night and my fortune read:

Talent does what it can, genius does what it must.

Looks like I ate GI's fortune cookie last night.

man- i hate losing by 1 point especially when my team has 2 missed FGs.

Spires was a perfect 7 of 7 until this week he went 1 for 3...Me thinks someone paid him to lose this game!

another great day for Brady and a shitty day for Chicago. Enough dropped passes and missed FGs to kill a legitimate shot at a win. This game sucks...

Statistical milestones and records from week 5:

-Milan Hogan of Tucson became the 10th QB to throw for 100 touchdowns in his career with 3 tds in a loss to Denver to give him exactly 100.

-Tony Jolin of Hartford had 4 catches for 79 yards against Durham which puts him at 5049 career receiving yards. He is the 8th receiver in league history to pass 5000 yards.

-Justin Luck, a Huntington Beach safety, picked off 3 passes this week in a 21-20 win over Anchorage. The picks gave him 29 for his career to tie him with Michael Dustin of Detroit for the all time CFL interception record. Coming into this season the leader was Craig Jiles of Long Beach with 28, but he has yet to record an interception this year.
