[quote5bd5afa="Fonzie"][quote5bd5afa="TurfToe"]I relish the reputation the Rounders have for playing a physical and hard-nosed style of football, however, after losing Olsen for 6 weeks, I truly feel bad when a starting QB goes down. It ruins a season.[/quote5bd5afa]
The backup QB is one area where I think FOF could use substantial improvement. It shouldn't always be the case that losing a starting QB will ruin a season - sometimes backups come in and perform at a very high level when no one expected that they could. It would be nice to see a few (and I mean a [i5bd5afa]few[/i5bd5afa] - this could get really problematic with too many) mediocre QBs tagged with a "rapid development/masked high potential" type of characteristic that only kicks in when they start to play regularly. Right now we've got the mid-late career boomers, but that's about it for unexpected player development. QBs should be treated differently, methinks.
That probably wasn't very clear. I haven't had my coffee yet.
And I'm not too bright.[/quote5bd5afa]
Well, you hit one point right on the head.
Speaking of which, how many times were you dropped on your head as an infant?
I think a minor change might be helpful but it still behooves each owner to make sure they have talent at the #2 QB spot who can do more than hold kicks. My backup has improved greatly over the past 5 weeks but will never posess half the skill of Olsen's left testicle. The only problem is the resources involved in keeping a quality backup QB. Can a winning team afford to have the cap invested in a legitimately good 2nd QB as opposed to the other positions that require multiple backups (RB, WR, DB)? I know I will try to make room in the future as my success this year was greatly hindered by Olsen's injury.
What's that altimeter reading now Fonz?
