Good showing from Shannon...

but is it bad that I'm slightly dissapointed that I won? getting like 4 wins on the season only serves to hurt my draft situation...

Don't get me wrong, I won't tank, but it's odd to get a small sense of dissapointment in a win.

We can never find a way to beat Memphis: 1-4 against them lifetime. QB Kimber is going to play next week against Vegas, knee problems or not. Backup QB Lester just isn't cutting it. Good game, GE, and now bring on the Rounders!

Wow. Crazy game against Fargo. Over 1000 yards of offense and 79 points. Branden Lin wins the offensive player of the week award going 28/41 for 437 yards and 4 touchdowns plus 32 rushing yards and a td on the ground.

I guess the good news is that we got the win, and we found out our offense is capable of putting up some points. We couldn't stop Fargo at all, though. Our defense has given up a lot of points the past two weeks after playing great in the first half of the year.

Wonderful. Another 3 point loss after blowing a 14 point lead with 6 minutes to go. This season gets a big  from me.

If the season ended today, El Paso would be in the playoffs. Congrats to Jeeber, I really thought El Paso would be among the worst teams this year.

Good game 3ric... and that game about sums up my season with the Flats.

One thing I did like was Mark Reed's performance. He has a shot at being our RB of the future, and looked good against Baltimore.

TLK, Ernest Lorenzo scared me with that 44 yd TD run. But my defensive end Billy Hopper had a huge game (deserving MVP) with 3.5 sacks (team record) and 5 hurries.

Three wins in a row and four out of our last five. For some reason we do really well against Seattle (4-0 lifetime) and this one was huge for our playoff chances.

Damn, I was happy because our next two games are at home but I just realized that we're 5-1 on the road and a mere 2-4 at home. The Sun Bowl better be packed the next two weeks 'cause we need as much of an advantage as we can get...

After looking at my game, more observations. There was a nice fumble on the kickoff with 5 minutes to go, letting Tulsa tie up the game as they had the ball at our 20. Then another missed FG that wouldve won it, and of course Tulsa won the coin toss and scored right away in OT.

Thanks, timmy. I credit a TON of our success to Dustin Hayes finally maturing as a QB. He hasn't thrown a ton of TDs this season, but hes put up great numbers just about everywhere else. In fact, he just broke the Rockets pasing yardage record today...

Fun Fact of the Day - Ronnie Tu has had 7 different receivers lead the team in receiving for the different games :D

Woot! Another win!

Amazingly at 5-7 the Pride isn't out of the playoff race yet. We are 2 games behind New Orleans and Memphis for the Division (with one game left against each) and only two games behind a score of teams for the wild card spots.

Damn. I just cursed it.

We won? Oh dear lord, I wasn't prepared for that. I thought Long Beach would stomp our asses pretty good, what with Hogan missing yet another game. The credit has to go to our defense, which nicely implemented the "bend but don't break" philosophy for this game. We held Urrutria and Terrell mostly in check, and our run-first offensive approach won us the time-of-possession battle (38:27 - 29:21).

No doubt, though, we got lucky. We won despite some atrocious kickoff returns (e.g., starting at our 11 and our 14), shanked punts (33 yarder from deep in our territory), a missed field goal by Castorena, two picks by Cassidy, an injury to our starting center. And we also benefitted from some poor kicking by Swallow (just 2 for 4 on FGs, with his misses being very makeable), a crucial fumble Urrutria on a sack, and a HUGE 34 yard defensive pass interference call with 49 seconds left in the 4th quarter to set up the game-tying FG. In other words, I'm not so sure we won this game as much as Long Beach lost it. Either way, good game!

Holy cow, we won! that was fully unexpected...especially after being down 24-3 after 25 minutes of play...

Hartford has one of the best MP team I've ever played against, and yet we managed to rack up more than 400 yds of offense on them...

Again a lot of turnovers for us, 2 int and 2 fumbles (it seemed everytime a Hartford defender hit one of my guys, the ball popped loose!) and we nearly got killed by penalties (11 for 119 yds!) but in the end, it was a penalty on Hartord that saved our win. This is their last possession, we've just scored the go-ahead FG with less than 2 minutes to go.

1-10-HAR20 (02:10) HAR 3 Oberg sacked by DET 98 Gomez for a loss of 8 yards.
Sack allowed by HAR 61 Lynn.
Offical time out for the two-minute warning.

2-18-HAR12 (02:00) HAR 3 Oberg pass fell incomplete, intended for 86 Housley.
DET 95 Thomas hurried the quarterback into a bad throw.

[b239ebbc]3-18-HAR12 (01:49) HAR 3 Oberg pass completed to 86 Housley for 49 yards.
Tackled by DET 24 Carleton.
Penalty: HAR - Offensive Holding.[/b239ebbc]
--
3-24-HAR06 (01:37) HAR 3 Oberg pass fell incomplete, intended for 80 Hodges.
DET 90 Parker defended the pass.

4-24-HAR06 (01:29) HAR 3 Oberg pass was underthrown, intended for 85 Trail.
The ball goes over on downs.

That bomb would have gotten Hartford at least in FG range to tie the game.

Definitely a huge game for us, I'm really pumped right now...

dola- can't resist posting a part of the game log that shows why I love Manos as a goto player, this is from our winning drive.

3-01-DET29 (08:29) DET 16 Mathias pass completed to 83 Manos for 3 yards.
Tackled by HAR 92 Sawyer.
Manos gained 1 yard after the catch.
Penalty: DET - Offensive Holding.
--
3-11-DET19 (08:22) DET 16 Mathias pass completed to 83 Manos for 11 yards.
Tackled by HAR 25 Freeman.
Manos gained 4 yards after the catch.

I can just picture him shaking his head after the holding call, and saying in the huddle, "it doesn't matter, throw it to me again, I'll take care of this myself!" 8)

All bitterness aside, we left the door opened and the Toros took the game. We can make mistakes all we want but if the Toros doesn't do their job, they don't win. So kudos to the Toros and their good gameplanning.

A couple milestones:

Arthur Brady went over 10,000 career rushing yards this week as his 150 yards put him at 10,145. No other back in the CFL has even cracked 7500.

Lenny Olsen and Josh Uruttia became the 8th and 9th guys to pass for over 20,000 yards in their career this week.

Some new records:

No league marks were broken, but many team records fell this week.

Boise set a new franchise high for total yards and points scored against Fargo this week with 571 yards and 41 points. The Stampede's previous best in points came last year when they scored 38 against, you guessed it, Fargo.

Detroit set a new franchise mark with 327 passing yards in their comeback win over Hartford.

Honolulu broke their record for pass attempts in a game with 51 in their victory over Anchorage.

Memphis broke a team record by rushing for 239 yards against Durham. Their previous best was 200.

Shreveport set a new pass attempts record in their victory over New York by attempting 58 passes.

Tucson set a new mark by rushing the ball 51 times in their OT win over Long Beach.

With my backup in, nonetheless. Is that bench feeling comfortable, Mr. Hartman?

Im sure he would gladly trade a few of those yards for a playoff appearance. I know I would.

I think this was our first week without a serious injury. :) Honestly, this season can't end fast enough for Boston. :(
