After winning three straight Western Conference titles and two of the last three CFL Bowls, the Dynomite are an easy pick for the #1 ranking. A major part of Denver's success was their drafting in 2005. Their selections were 1.2 CB Joel Sanderson (8 INTs in 2009, 21 career INTs) and 1.26 QB Marcus Garibaldi (2-time CFL Championship MVP). And they also picked up TE Louie Peace in the 4th round. Peace has 112 receptions and 12 TDs since he took over the starting job two seasons ago.

The 2008 CFL Champions have delayed salary cap hell for at least another year and have a roster loaded with veteran talent. RB Toothpick Lang joins his 4th team in 4 years and should be an upgrade over last year's starter, Jeromy Donahue. FS Rocky Alleman intercepted a pass in Hartford's wild card victory over Charleston, and then changed sides during the offseason and will now wearing a Monitor uniform.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet01.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Boise Stampede[/b65062a8] (12-4) Owner: timmynausea
The Stampede won their 2nd straight Ring of Ice Division title last year and had a bye in the playoffs. But the dreams of a championship were crushed when kicker Conrad Fisher missed a 48 yard field goal with under a minute left that gave the Sacramento Dragons a 21-19 victory. Now Toothpick Lang is gone, and of Boise's 6 RBs, his most likely replacement is C.J. Washington. Washington was a 2nd round draft pick in 2008 and rushed for 1,004 yards his rookie year and 545 yards last season while backing up Lang.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet08.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Hartford Attack[/b65062a8] (10-6) Owner: Masked
Hartford started 0-4 in 2009 but rebounded to finish the regular season at 10-6 and win their 5th Yankee Division title. Their season ended in the divisional playoffs in a 33-28 loss to the Durham Bulldogs. Hartford is now 0-4 lifetime in road playoff games. Once again the Attack have one of the most explosive offenses in the league despite WRs Trail, Miller, and Jolin being past their prime. It would not be surprising if this team met Charleston in the playoffs for the 4th straight year.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet25.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Tucson Toros[/b65062a8] (12-4) Owner: Fonzie
After four straight wild card berths, the Toros finally won the Ring of Fire division in 2009. QB Milan "Colonel" Hogan was injured in the final regular season game and Tucson was forced to start QB Daryl Cassidy in a playoff loss to Denver. Cassidy was traded to Denver during the offseason. Last year RB Drew Holliday rushed for 10+ TDs for the 4th straight season and now ranks 4th in CFL history despite only playing in 64 games.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet06.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Shreveport Pride[/b65062a8] (12-4) Owner: Raven Hawk
The Pride won 9 straight games heading into CFL Bowl VII but only scored 7 points on 234 yards of offense in the title game loss. The strength of this team is the middle of the defense. Future hall of famer MLB Joshua Mask has had 100+ tackles in all of his 7 seasons and even added 4 INTs last year. He is the career leader in tackles with 803. In front of Mask is DT Jerald Barber, the #1 overall pick in 2005. Barber had a career high 7 sacks last year and is a force against the run.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet31.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Detroit Vampires[/b65062a8] (12-4) Owner: fantastic flying froggies
Detroit has now won 5 straight Great Lakes division titles and are the favorite again in 2010. The #1 overall pick in 2008, QB Johnnie Titone, gained a lot of experience last year and should be ready for a better season in 2010. He'd like to forget his 6-35 for 63 passing yards and 2 INT performance in week 12 against Tucson. Titone has a new target now, WR Roderick Parker, who was drafted 15th overall out of Connecticut. Parker has 4.38 speed and has the potential be offensive rookie of the year.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet18.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Tulsa Talons[/b65062a8] (10-6) Owner: Doug5984
The 2009 league MVP, RB Butch Fulton, injured his shoulder in Tulsa's playoff loss to Sacramento. Fulton had surgery in the offseason and was allowed to test the free agency market. He signed a 1-year contract with Sacramento for $6 million. Tulsa's new starting RB is rookie Marvin Raffo who held out through training camp. The Talons made another big move when they traded for veteran SLB Victor Ginn, who should be the team's best defensive front player.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet27.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Seattle Thunderbirds[/b65062a8] (6-10) Owner: Aylmar
Seattle has never made it to the playoffs, but this could finally be the year. QB Charles Dever is arguably the most talented signal caller in the league. WR Cole Faison is just as talented, as shown by 5 straight seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards, including 1,743 in 2007. RB Burt Liszkiewicz, the #1 overall pick in 2006, gives Seattle the best offensive trio in the CFL. This year's 1st round draft pick, G D.J. Rodgers, should start immediately.

The Blue Pacific are now the Bloodthirsty Beagles, and Injured Ronnie Tu is no longer the starting QB, but will mentor 2nd round draft pick Percy Boutte. Boutte will have time to learn before getting playing time, as Randolph Kranz was acquired from New Orleans for a 2nd round draft pick. First round draft pick DE Bernie Humphrey should start from opening day and could develop into a dangerous pass rusher.

Boston is 52-60 lifetime but has never made the playoffs. The Panthers have one of the best pass rushing combos in the CFL: DEs Ralph Crank and Isaiah Melo have 126.5 career sacks between them. QB Dwayne Bridges signed a renegotiated contract for the 2nd straight year and is scheduled to count nearly $17 million towards the cap next season.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet24.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Las Vegas Rounders[/b65062a8] (10-6) Owner: TurfToe
RB Anthony Jennings should have a breakout season with the addition of FB Chris Wisdom who is an exceptional lead blocker. On defense, the Rounders have the best linebacking crew in the league. Ira Saxon is the leader, and Jorge Butler and Jerrod Spalding are the other starters. And they still have Romeo Comeau who is disgruntled from being placed in a backup role. Comeau is the team leader in career tackles (634) and interceptions (14).

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet16.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Tampa Bay Torpedoes[/b65062a8] (7-9) Owner: wademoore
Ironman and 4th quarter comeback wizard Joshua Urrutia is now the starting quarterback and gives the Torpedoes a legitimate shot at their first playoff berth since 2004. TE Wes McGregor is back from missing most of 2009 due to a pair of injuries, and Urrutia should put up some big numbers with McGregor and WRs Damion Tabb and Trent Muir. On defense Tampa Bay will probably play a 3-4 with Lincoln Dart playing NT.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet10.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Sacramento Dragons[/b65062a8] (8-8) Owner: Joe
In 2009 the Dragons won the San Andreas division with an 8-8 record, and then knocked Tulsa and Boise out of the playoffs before losing to eventual champion Denver. This offseason they added 2-time offensive player of the year RB Butch Fulton, who should be healthy for the season opener. If QB Seymour Barre protects the ball (21 INTs in 2009, more than 2007 & 2008 combined) then the Dragons should win their 3rd consectutive division title.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet03.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Durham Bulldogs[/b65062a8] (12-4) Owner: Taco
The Bulldogs led the league in scoring in 2009 (27 points/game, 4th in CFL history) thanks to the play of QB Edward Kimber who had career bests of 3,822 passing yards and 30 TDs. Kimber has now won more games than any other QB (80). Durham's biggest offseason move was signing DE Casey Bousquet away from division rival Charleston. Bousquet was given $12.5 million in bonus money and a $5.5 million salary this year.

http://www.thecfl.net/cfl/helmet21.jpg" width="35" height="35"> Fargo Boxcars[/b65062a8] (8-8) Owner: P. Luxx
Fargo was busy during the offseason: 27 of their 60 players under contract were not on the team last year. Heading that list are offensive linemen Steven Odum and Daniel Braddy who will now be blocking for RB Elias Alvey (28 rushing TDs in two seasons in Fargo). WR Ernie Cooley has speed and good hands and could be an all-pro selection this year, especially if Fargo gets into the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
