Here is the replay of the Lenny Olsen interview after last week's game. Clipped from KLAS-Channel 8's sports report.
Hi, this is Walter Mellon reporting live from the basement of Caeser's Palace, the Las Vegas Rounders' practice facility. Tonight I am delighted to be joined by Lenny "Jackpot" Olsen who is getting treatment on his injured knee.
[u91356c0][b91356c0]WM[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: Lenny, how does the knee feel?
[u91356c0][b91356c0]Jackpot[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: Well, it's still swollen and a little tender. I'm working on getting the swelling down so they can get a better look with an MRI. I may be under the scope in a couple of days for the usual exploratory procedures.
[u91356c0][b91356c0]WM[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: What did you think about the cheap shot that took you down?
[b91356c0][u91356c0]Jackpot[/u91356c0][/b91356c0]: I wouldn't say it was a cheap shot Walter, I just think it's one of those things. There was a tremendous surge from the right side of the line, for a second there I thought Twisp went down based on the speed they came at me, and they were able to block the pass at the line. The hit came from the left side and yes, it was low, and yes, he did lead with his helmet but I don't think it was intentional. Intent is what makes cheap shots cheap.
[u91356c0][b91356c0]WM[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: So you don't think there will be actions taken by the league office?
[b91356c0][u91356c0]Jackpot[/u91356c0][/b91356c0]: I didn't say that either. I did get hit below the waist and I was hit with a helmet. The league will do what the league will do, I just don't think there was an intent to injure, the cat was just trying to get to me. Trust me, when you have to get around Blackburn, you will do whatever you have to do, and most times that means you probably won't be in control of your body when you do manage to get around him.
[u91356c0][b91356c0]WM[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: Will you be back for the rematch?
[b91356c0][u91356c0]Jackpot[/u91356c0][/b91356c0]: No, I don't think so. Depending on the results I will probably be shut down for the year. It doesn't feel right, not right at all. I think Luke played well. He's a competitor, a really pale competitor, but a competitor nonetheless.
[u91356c0][b91356c0]WM[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: We didn't see your last game did we?
[u91356c0][b91356c0]Jackpot[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: *smiles* No Walter, I would say you haven't. But things do change and I'm not about to make any guarantees. I plan to honor my contract and help this team win a championship until I am no longer able to do that.
[b91356c0][u91356c0]WM[/u91356c0][/b91356c0]: What about a bid for the Hall? Will that keep you motivated to get back on the field?
[u91356c0][b91356c0]Jackpot[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: *laughs* There ain't nothing this old dog could do now that would help my chances of making it to the Hall. My years of making a case for that honor are behind me. That's never been a goal of mine, I've just always wanted a ring. If I've got to hold kicks next year to give the Rounders a shot at getting 53 rings, then that's what I'll do.
[u91356c0][b91356c0]WM[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: Do you think the nagging injuries over the past couple of years and now this major injury is the result of the years piling up?
[u91356c0][b91356c0]Jackpot[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: No Walter, it's the result of defenders piling up on me. It's the same for every player that steps out on the field, you just never know when the trainer's cart has your name on it.
[u91356c0][b91356c0]WM[/b91356c0][/u91356c0]: This has been Walter Mellon with KLAS, Channel 8, joined by the Rounders QB, Lenny "Jackpot" Olsen, saying good night and game on!
