There's a lot of buzz in Vegas but not much of it is surrounding the Rounders. After a crippling season last year in which the Rounders nearly went winless, something was bound to change regardless of where the fingers were being pointed. The last head coaching change saw Coach Crawley replaced by Coach Strong for his aggressive nature, especially with regards to his offensive and defensive playcalling. Coach Strong's agressive attitude carried over to training camp and practices, possibly leading to the recent coaching change. Rookie Head Coach, Dave Titone, has been hired by the Las Vegas Rounders. Vegas GM TurfToe had this to say during the press conference:
"Last year was rough, real rough, both for the organization and our fans. Coach Strong was a good fit for the organization, as he was tough, aggressive, and knew what we wanted from our players. Unfortunately, his aggressive nature took its toll last year and our guys broke down. When P-Dub (RDT Phil Weaver) and Jackpot (QB Lenny Olsen) were both done for the year before Week 1 came to an end, we knew it was going to be a long season and something was wrong with our program. P-Dub and Jackpot aren't the entire team but they are just a couple of the many key players we lost last year. It would be a shorter list if we just named the healthy players. After much deliberation with the training staff and some discussions with peers, I decided it was in the team's best interest to make a move away from the rough-and-tumble training attitude we've had during my tenure. I decided to give Dave Titone his opportunity at head coaching based on his reputation around the league. Coach T is a well-rounded coach with great motivation skills. While he may be a rookie head coach, he blew us away during his first interview and we knew we had to sign him. Coach T's motivation skills are exactly what our club needs after last year. We'll soon find out if Coach T has what it takes to be a head coach or if he's just a smooth talker. It's up to him to prove he should be a Rounder in 2012."
The Rounders still have a lot of question marks on their roster. Key players are a year older and some of the younger studs have not recovered from last year's injuries. It will be interesting to see what direction TurfToe takes this team. The press conference was rather uneventful and a rookie reporter even asked TurfToe if he was resigned to coaching a lottery pick team or if the league had asked him to toe the line this year. Needless to say, TurfToe responded. While giving the reporter an atomic wedgie and shoving him into a garbage can, TurfToe asked, "Are you resigned to wearing a wedgie in a garbage can or are you just a dumbass?"
The more things change the more they stay the same.
Charges have not yet been filed and we will report any changes in status. The league has not taken any action yet and are expected to respond based on whether charges are filed and TurfToe's public response to the incident. Footage at 10:00.
