1.20 QB Tracy Gilson, 20/68. (-1/-10)
2.10 RB Kelly Breien , 44/62. (-1/-4)
3.13 CB Grady Collier, 28/54. (+3/-4)
3.14 WR Luke Johnston, 17/56. (+1/-11)
4.13 DT Archie Gray, 26/49. (+5/+2)
5.12 SS Dwight Rhett, 24/57. (-1/-7)
6.11 FB Les Honablue, 34/57. (+1/-5)
7.10 TE Al Vermeil, 28/55. (0/-6)

Collier looks like a part-time starter, Gray would be a good backup and Breien/Gilson should be providing valuable depth. Honablue could be a marginal starter. Vermeil, Rhett and Johnston all could make the roster but probably will be out of the league in a couple of seasons.

[quote963c347="Taco"][b963c347]1.15 RCB [player]Brandon Norton[/player][/b963c347] (30/41) - I have confidence that his ratings will end up being higher than my scout is telling me, but I'm worried that they won't be as high as I would like from someone selected 15th overall. This year Norton won't get much playing time but may contribute on kick returns.

[b963c347]2.12 LG [player]Jake Schwartz[/player][/b963c347] (28/49) - Very inexperienced but could get significant playing time next season. Drafting Schwartz likely means that [player]Randall Wilkins[/player] will get cut before the regular season.

[b963c347]3.1 SLB [player]Emmitt Stevenson[/player][/b963c347] (27/51) - Very undersized (5'10", 241 lbs.) and projects as a solid backup LB. My starting SLB [player]Cole Garrett[/player] is not pathetic at pass rushing so I'm hoping Stevenson can come in and at least provide occasional pressure from that position.

Only 3 picks this year but I did pick up and extra 3rd rounder next year. The game gave me a grade of B, but I think that's being kind - I probably deserve lower.[/quote963c347]

Update after training camp:

[b963c347]1.15 RCB [player]Brandon Norton[/player][/b963c347] (35/47) (+5/+6) - I'm relieved to see this improvement. As expected, he'll get most of his playing time in the dime defense and on kick returns.

[b963c347]2.12 LG [player]Jake Schwartz[/player][/b963c347] (31/49) (+3/0) - He may get playing time sooner than I originally expected. Schwartz has the potential to be very good in pass protection, but will never be a dominating run blocker. Doesn't really matter since we don't have a running game anyway.

[b963c347]3.1 SLB [player]Emmitt Stevenson[/player][/b963c347] (28/51) (+1/0) - Will be the backup SLB this year. If he reaches his potential he could end up starting someday.

No busts so I'm happy. All 3 of these guys should contribute.

The top picks were unaffected by their changes and will end up starting at their positions. The later picks really didn't change a whole lot either and should make the squad save for the logjam at FL. One of these guys may get cut to make room for a punt return specialist picked up after the draft.

1.11 RCB [player]Derek Meadows[/player] +4/-1 -->48/71
1.28 WR [player]Damon Bates[/player] +3/0 -->38/48
2.22 LB [player]Riddick Angelou[/player] +3/-6 --28/54
5.11 DT [player]Teddy Luckett[/player] +3/+1 -->26/37
5.22 TE [player]Darnell Mitchell[/player] +1/+1 -->26/47

Total +14/-5

We're pleased with how Meadows made the transition to CB. If he fills out his current potential of 71, we'd be happy. If he manages to creep past that at all, we'd be ecstatic.

Bates is about what we expected - a perfect, long term #3 receiver for our O. If he creeps a little in a category or two, he could become even more valuable.

Angelou's camp was a little disappointing, and he can't bulk up at all so we may have to slide him back to OLB.

We think Luckett will creep up slightly. He'll never be a star, but we'd be very pleased if he could get up to the 45-50 range and provide solid depth.

Mitchell could creep some, too, but will probably be a career number 2 at TE.

All things considered we're very happy. Angelou was a minor set back, but Meadows is on the green page, and we think we got some long term guys out of this draft.

7.26 S [bc23850d]Robbie Hodges [/bc23850d](17/27)-> 21/35 (+4/+8) Looks as if his 99 volatily paid off.

Overall: +15/+5
Very happy with those post camp numbers, this could be my first time ever in positive #.

[quote2a47f98="Shooter"][b2a47f98]1.18[/b2a47f98] - [b2a47f98]RB[/b2a47f98], [player]Roy Jones[/player] (38/57) - Post Camp (39/59)
I must admit I have high hopes for this guy since I traded up & mortgaged the early part of next year's draft to get him. Wasn't impressed with his early numbers, but I really liked his combine and he seems to have very little downside. He will have an immediate impact in kickoff returns and he will have to split carries this year to prove himself.

[b2a47f98]3.29[/b2a47f98] - [b2a47f98]RB[/b2a47f98] ,[player]Blaine Dunlap[/player] (45/51) - Post Camp (46/53)
I was really suprised to see him there at 3.29. I like his initial upside and he will battle Jones for carries. He has tremendous speed to the edge and has the ability to go the distance. Again high hopes here and he has some great promise. It will be an interesting battle between incumbent [player]Darryl Roberson[/player] who ran for 1200+ and caught 47 passes, recently signed veteran [player]Artie Sonntag[/player], and the 2 newcomers in camp. We may carry 4-5 backs this year into the season.

[b2a47f98]4.4[/b2a47f98] - [b2a47f98]RB[/b2a47f98], [player]Irv Dusek[/player] (19/59) - Post Camp (23/55)
Great value in the 4th round. We had this guy as a must have before the draft and gave up the later half of our draft to get him. While having very good bars in all the right places he should fit in as our secondary leader and mentor in a few years which adds extra value to San Antonio since he should fall in line with the rest of the secondary.

All in all, we're very happy with our 3 picks and are looking to compete at a high level this year.[/quote2a47f98]

[b70a3b54]1.19 QB [player]Brenden Cassidy[/player] (-1/-11)[/b70a3b54] - We knew that this was a risky pick, but decided to go after him anyways. I still like his bars, so he still may see the field some.
[b70a3b54]
3.23 WLB [player]Donald Burnett[/player](+2/-1)[/b70a3b54] - Moved over to the Weak Side where it looks like his skills will better fit the position. He'll get the chance to start there.

[b70a3b54]5.23 MLB [player]Jack Cherry[/player] (+4/-1)[/b70a3b54] - Moved to MLB where it looks like he's a better fit. He'll give the great [player]Joshua Mask[/player] a breather every now and again in return for some mentoring.

[b70a3b54]6.4 C [player]Gus Schanne[/player] (+2/-5)[/b70a3b54] - Still good enough to get the start this year. He's got a mentor in [player]Dexter Bleeck[/player] and should be able to make some good strides this year. Always great to find a starter in the 6th round.
[b70a3b54]
6.10 RCB [player]Jimmie Alston[/player] (+2/-5)[/b70a3b54] - We've got a log jam at CB. I'm hoping to get him some PT as a Nickle/Dime back and on special teams.

[b70a3b54]6.19 FS [player]Benjamin Reed[/player] (+1/-11)[/b70a3b54] - Still has some good skills and will spend a year on special teams developing some better fundamentals.

[b70a3b54]7.3 SE [player]Graham Carter[/player] (0/-8 )[/b70a3b54] - Still good enough to land the #4 WR on our team, so he'll see some pretty decent reps this year.

[b70a3b54]7.19 LG [player]J.B. Gragg[/player] (+3/-2)[/b70a3b54]- Moved over to LG and looks like he'll get the opportunity to start and train under mentor [player]Everett Knight[/player]. I love 7th round starters. In fact, Everett followed the same path. He should have some good advice for J.B.

[b70a3b54]7.23 TE [player]Grady Henry[/player] (0/-4)[/b70a3b54]- With an aging Long Snapper in [player]Dexter Bleeck[/player] and an aging #2 TE in [player]Ralph Jarvis[/player], Grady should be a shoe in for the team as he can cover both of those holes once they retire.

Overall +13/-48 which was more or less expected because I stocked up on late round picks. I need to see how they turn out a couple of years from now as they get a little more XP under their belts.

Let's see how camp was to the rookies (ratings are post camp):

[b98866fb]1.14 MLB Lee Cencerik [/b98866fb]37/72 (+3/-2)
[b98866fb]2.13 WLB Sammie Hartsock [/b98866fb]42/59 (+3/-3)
[b98866fb]3.12 RDT Sherman Negron [/b98866fb]29/57 (+2/-6)
[b98866fb]4.11 SS Heath Pogue [/b98866fb]21/49 (-1/-6)
[b98866fb]5.10 LT Mitch Simmons [/b98866fb]7/51 (0/-5)
[b98866fb]6.14 FL Brady Poe [/b98866fb]11/40 (0/-6)
[b98866fb]7.13 RG Johnny Graham [/b98866fb]24/38 (+2/-2)

Cencerik and Harsock will be starting from day 1 and with Leone we'll have a great LB corps.

Negron dropped a bit in potential, but he'll still see loads of action as he has some great potential.

Pogue will round out the safties corps, and his 66/77 punt return ability is what he was drafted for, so his potential drop is acceptable.

Simmons could see some action although he is a bit of a project. Poe and Graham are filling in roster spots.
