Hartford signed its first FA this offseason. CB Frankie Collier signed a two year deal and will hopefully improve the Attack's special teams play which was horrible last season.

He was my main target in free agency this season.

(which says a lot about this season's crop of free agents I guess... )

Well, after last season, I'm happy I managed to finally beat Detroit in something.

I don't think this FA class is much different than previous years, it was missing the one or two good, young players that generate huge bids (WR Thomason last year, WR Shaun Wirtz and DE Osborne two years ago)

But relatively speaking people are getting no value for the money they are spending. When a free agent costs more than a franchised player at the same position, something is wrong. Wait, I need to quantify that in case some people think there are actual franchise quality players available in free agency. Here goes: Owners still find a way to spend stupid money on free agents. There, that sounds better.

Also, I still get the same quality free agents that I did when there were free agents available so it's all the same here in Vegas.

I think that the big spending on average FAs is due to the ton of money available in this league. I've played 30-40 years in SP and I've never seen so much money laying around. But I always use the minimum numbers on yearly cap growth (5 and 10, I think)... so it is impossible to have excess money and keep a lot of great players.

You will find out that MP league play is nothing like SP, nothing!! When you have 32 human owners things take a different twist daily. That said the cap problem is something we are trying to deal with, some think the wrong way, others have the wait and see approach. I on the other hand never seem to have enough cap space. :D

I'm with you. Those who want to spend the money will find a way. Boston is a good example of that this off-season.
