Good value:
For the most part the picks in the 1st round came as expected or better. I couldn't name them all, though, these are just the highlights.
1.1 Byron Clemons CB - the class of the draft. His size could hold him back but probably not by much.
1.3 Rusty Chandler DE
1.5 J.T. Chaky DE - I don't know if there is much to choose between Chandler and Chaky. At the end of the day they'll both be top quality DEs.
1.7 Shawn Clark LT - dropped a couple of points but will probably hold his value.
1.11 Norm Davison WR - held his value.
1.12 Dana Thomason LCB - only here because he looks to be the next best CB in the draft. He comes pretty much as expected which I'm sure TT will take any day, especially considering what happened to most of the other CBs in this draft.
1.13 Rufus Vecchio WR - could be the best WR in the class. He is probably equal or better than Davison.
1.14 Aaron Saunders RDE - in a draft that was loaded with DEs, Saunders looks like another great one. Not in the same class as Chandler and Chaky but still a steal at 1.14.
1.15 Raymond Rhodes QB - I don't want to toot my own horn but I personally think this was my best pick. I think he's better than Fisk, the top rated QB in the draft. Only time will tell.
1.18 Ronnie Bauer RDE - I don't know who will be better - Saunders or Bauer. It will be interesting to watch their development, though.
1.24 Billy Joe Talley RCB - A solid pick late in the 1st. He won't be a flashy RCB but he'll be a starter in the league for a long time.
Disappointments:
1.4 C.J. Ipock FL - saw a significant post-camp hit that was almost certainly volatility related.
1.8 Richie Ragland RB - looks to have the same bug that hit Ipock.
1.9 Grant Fisk QB - My prediction is that Fisk will be a good QB but certainly not as good as originally thought.
1.10 B.J. Fultz LDE - didn't gain or lose points but considering the DEs picked after him, this has to go as a disappointment.
1.20 Heath Monroe LT - I made a couple of big mistakes in the draft and this was one of them. I don't know if his drop was volatility, change of position or he just wasn't good in the first place.
1.22 Victor Miknich RB - This had to be a volatility drop. He had the combines to be a good RB but didn't pan out.
1.26 Tyrus Singleton LDE - He did not drop at TC but he had a long way to go up for a 1.26. Unless he booms later in his career, he's probably only backup material
1.27 Everett Bemont TE - Another guy with good combines who doesn't seem to have panned out.
1.28 Mitchell Batch SE - I put Batch here because conventional wisdom says he won't be an everyday starter. I still think he has plenty of room for improvement, though. At the moment he doesn't look like a 1.28.
1.29 Archie Guido RCB - TT and I disagree on how these CBs will develop... In any case, if I'm wrong I'll have learned something about the game. But I think Guido is another CB in this draft that is probably just backup material.
1.31 Brent Broady LDT - This draft was weak on DTs. Broady looked to have talent but TC showed his true colors.
(now I'm done)
