From the schedule:

18-May Exhibition Season Week 1
21-May Exhibition Season Week 2
22-May Exhibition Season Week 3
23-May Exhibition Season Week 4
24-May Exhibition Season Week 5

That's a lot of wasted time where the only meaningful thing that can happen is that key players get injured. I suggest turning injuries off, simming preseason in 1 night, and getting to the interesting games faster. I admit, I'm also looking to ease the load on the simmer (I admit this is a significant factor).

The main arguments in favor of multiple sims are weak in my opinion
1) More chances to sign rookies - It's easy to have tons of cap space in this league, just offer them the best option for them before camp.
2) Game plan testing - if you think you can draw meaningful conclusions from a sample size of 4 games, let's just say this proposal is protecting you from yourself

However, one argument has more merit in my view - there is a strategic decision in whether to sit starters to avoid injuries or play them to avoid rust. I think these decisions are good for the game and league, however, i think this is one of the more minor decisions an owner has to make.

Just throwing this out to see how others feel.

Well, being one of the newer guys, to me the most important factor is to make the schedule doable for the person running the sims, as well as all the rest of us. So if that's real important to you guys, who have to sim the games, then I am on board with that.
I use the exhibition season to give the backups that I am hoping develop into starters some quick experience, and if I am unsure between 2 players at a position, I try to give them equal playing time and check the stats, when possible, to decide who to start.
Other than that, to me it is more of a feels more like the real thing with an exhibition season.
So like I said to begin, if its more manageable from a sim standpoint, and it is important to the guys doing the sim, one night exhibition season is okay by me.

I'd like to see preseason ran in 2 sims and a mid week before week 1. First 3 weeks, and last 2 weeks.

If injuries are off, I vote to run it all at once. I do like the injury factor, though. But I defer to what's easiest for the simmer.

I use the preseason like Arizona does. I don't really like the idea of 1 sim. 2 or 3 would be okay.
I guess I would preffer it the way it is but I can understand for the simmer it could be difficult, so I would be okay with a change.

I would be OK with 2 sims as I like to use preseason to develop young players as well. Though I tend to be a more purist about injuries, I am amenable to turn injuries off, if that is what the rest of the league wants.

I don't like the idea of a single sim for all of preseason and would fall on the side of all sims vs. 1 sim if those were the two options.

Two sims seems reasonable to me. That would shave three days off the schedule while still allowing for roster-wide player development/rust elimination. One could also turn injuries back on for the last week of each sim to get at least a bit of that realism back.

I value player evaluation but that is secondary to using the scrubs to protect starters' health. Although I must admit some injuries during pre-season help me make roster decisions. I'm a sucker for IR'ing the 4-week sprained knee team leaders who are only on the team for cohesion reasons. That being said, injuries would have to be off completely for me to sign off on multiple games per sim in the preseason. I could agree to 2 sims with a midweek before week 1.

A bigger question is why we don't sim FA2 in one sim?

You can only make one offer to drafted players during FA2 and everyone is throwing cash at undrafted free agents in the first round anyway. If you want to save some sims, there are two unnecessary sims in that stage alone. I never thought about it much until I experienced it in the NAFL and it's so much nicer to try to sign your draftees in one stage and then make the final offer in the very next export going into TC.

If you don't turn injuries off, even if you sim only 2 games in a night there is a chance that the A.I. messes with your roster. I hate it when it cuts a developement player to sign an area of need due to injury. That's my only 2 cents.

I'm a traditionalist, I say Keep preseason as is.

I use it for Player Development and I like the Risk of Injury if you start your Studs..

How about this compromise....

Sim weeks 1 & 2 together on one night, and keep the rest as is. Seems to work well in most of the leagues I'm in.

I like the preseason the way it is but am fine with making 2 sims for the 4 exhibition games.

I am also in favor of doing something about FA. I'd like to run the first week of FA1 then skip to the draft. Leaving 4 weeks of negotiation in FA2. I don't want to copy any other leagues. This league goes back to FOF2004 that is special in my eyes. If we do something let's put it to vote and add or exclude it from the league constitution.

I like the preseason the way it is. Injuries are a part of the game and I like to play some players at different positions just to see if they can do it.

I don't mind the idea of cutting it to two sims, but then something would have to be done with injuries or like Fonzie said, put injuries on for the last of the two games.

I don't like the idea of one sim for preseason because of the rust issue and player development.

However, I do like Turftoe's idea of cutting the late free agency period to just one week.

What ever we decide upon will be fine with me.

Couldn't agree more.

Preseason is part of what a GM has to deal with. And it has its purpose and benefits as well as its challenges and strategic risk and reward choices.

You either want to play this game the way it's designed or you're looking for a way to make the game easier and less challenging.

Count me out of easier, softer, less-challenging CFL version of FOF, if that's the case.
