Can somebody confirm or disconfirm a vague recollection of mine? I seem to recall that,if you're over the cap, you need to get back under the cap before you can successfully renegotiate contracts, even if the contracts in question would reduce your cap number (and thus get you back under the cap). Is that correct? Or did I forget to take my meds today?

The way I see it is when you're renegotiating, you'll be fine as long as the cap number for the first year of the renegotiated contract is smaller than the player's current cap number.

Yeah, I believe that's how it works in SP. But I have this memory in the back of my mind that renegotiations work slightly differently in MP. I could just be making that up, though.

I clearly need more coffee.

When in doubt, go over to IHOF and ask them. :)

I may well be, but I've never been substantially under the cap before and don't know first-hand. I seem to remember somebody having trouble with this before, however.

Let's hope that I just smoked too much crack this morning.

I could not renegotiate players when I retook control of the Dragons after the start of the season last season. I simply assumed it was because the season was already underway. I sure hope I'll be allowed to do renegotiations before the season starts, cause I don't want to have to start cutting players left and right... We'll see. I'll try my renegotiation first, then will try getting after new players...

Perhaps that's what I was thinking of. I guess we'll find out soon enough!
