I might as well just say who it is...as long as MrBug doesn't show up and pick him. I'll take my chances...

I'm going to pick DT Freddie Shaw out of Butler. There are four higher rated DTs available, but I can't ignore those combine numbers, Solecismic score, and 97 volatility.[/quote65912d3]

I never would've guessed he'd go in the 1st, but looking at the details it makes sense.

If it weren't for a 97 volatility, he'd be higher on my list.

And round one is over! And New York selects the top RB to start round two!

I think we should get the next person on the waiting likst to draft for Bug. He never shows much interest in drafting. I understand things come up. I had a situation where I could not do anything this summer. But the draft is different. Your delaying everyone in the league. I think getting a "vulture" to draft for him is the right thing to do and then deciding what to do with his team after the draft.

It was an epic 1st round. Trades, fighting, waiting, and a kicker.

Has any one used the "once" option when using the utility to make your pick? I have mine set to once (just double checked), but my light didn't turn yellow on the draft order screen.

Fun fact: My pick at 1.15, CB Lamont Gott, and more recent pick at 2.3, RB CJ Washington, both have the same hometown of Vernal, Utah.

Is this one of those jump start things that we discussed earlier?

Ok, here's something I didn't notice before. CJ Washington will be 28 years old by the time the season starts. Perhaps he did time.

I think that pick will turn out quite well for you.

Things are moving along okay now. We are making some progress. I guess CHI can only hope to have drafted our LT and RT of teh future.

I wish thater would show up. I am torn. If he takes the player that I want I am in trouble. I have no other viable options at this point and would have to go digging.

Shaw has the build and the combine numbers to be a beast, a worthy gamble.

I also gambled on the 2.8 pick with SLB Mario McLain who has the combine numbers of Leone the 6th overall pick.

Sweet. I got the player that I want. I will be running some two tight end sets this year. I am three deep at the tight end position which excites me. I have always had a fascination with tight ends.

Oh dear, I set myself up on that one.

The IHOF did try the 'combined' times, but it really got to be pretty labor intensive and here were the rules adopted:

[quotebdfa83b="IHOF Constitution"]VII. Drafting Procedures
A. The amateur draft will take place approximately over a 10-14 day span.
B. Picks will be made on the web site via the IHOF Draft Utility.
C. Each franchise has a time limit of fourteen (14) hours from the time the previous pick has been posted to make their selection.
D. If an owner does not make a pick in the alloted time frame, the pick will be made automatically and the franchise's time limit for future picks will be lowered to eight (8) hours.
E. If an owner fails to make a pick for a second time, all future picks for that franchise will be made automatically.
F. The method for an automatic pick consists of:
1. Automatic selection based on entries in the owner's Draft List.
2. If Draft List is empty, the pick will be made by the in-game AI.
G. The commisioner reserves the right to alter the time frame for picks in order to facilitate a draft of a reasonable length. Such an alteration would be made public knowledge at least 24 hours before it becomes effective.
[/quotebdfa83b]

However, keep in mind that in reality the IHOF has the 32 most active owners in the league... It took 3 days (3 1/2?) to do the entire draft last week... I think the longest delay we had (besides overnight) was about 4 or 5 hours...

I think more than rules, we need some common courtesy and activity. I myself am guilty of taking a long time, but to be somewhat defensive - it was taking a long time for folks to get back to me on trades... So, I think everyone should make an effort to be a little more active during this time.

The other thing is we need to USE the utility.. I know you cannot use it a full round ahead very easily, but we need to make some sacrifices for the better of the league and use it for 10-15 picks if you're not going to be here... you don't need to even put 15 picks in, but at least put the top few you know about in so that there is a chance your pick will process...

Damn you Chicago! I had Ackerman pegged for the last 15 picks as the guy I wanted.

You can kiss the nastiest part of my ass. :)

now I have my QB. He will have about 8 years to develop unless I get a CEI to Barre.

So how do you guys feel about your drafts so far? Things have gone well for me. I liked all 3 of my guys heading into the draft and all three will start from day one. I guess that is good and bad in some sense. I've filled my biggest holes, though.

I'm happy with mine so far, considering that I'm drafting guys who I know won't be starting for a while.

I've only had 1 pick thus far and I'm very happy with it. I moved up to grab the DT that I wanted instead of getting whichever one fell to me. I have no real needs right now, so I'm drafting for depth and to fill roster slots.
