If people are really so upset about picks taking 3.5 hours then propose a change to the draft procedures and shorten the time windows. I see it as far more troubling when people simply don't show to make their picks at all. |

I'll admit that I thought my morning would go differently and that I'd be here to make my pick. But that wasn't the case and I apologize for making everyone wait an hour or so. There's no excuse for not having your utility turned on by round 4 or so, myself included. Drafts in the CFL take about 2 days longer than they really should all because the same 4-5 teams hold us up at every one of their picks. To solve this problem (or at least alleviate the symptoms) I'd say that 4 Hours is way too long after Round 2. I'd like to see us drop the window to 1 hour from Round 3 on. |

[quote4fd5a3c="clubber lang"] hey tool, i checked in at 0630 to see if i had a message, can't help it if i have job that i can't be here every waking minute, and why would i turn the utility on if i do not have a deal in place at the time... In clubber's defense I didn't accept the trade he had proposed the night before until the morning. Without being psychic or having a bad case of insomnia, he couldn't know he was on the clock. I traded the pick to him immediately after accepting the trade in case he was waiting to make the selection. If anything, blame me. |

I blame MrBug...every issue with the draft is ALWAYS his fault. Quick Bug, jokingly resign again so you can get booted from the league again only to regain your franchise a season later again. |

I will make a pick within the hour. Looking to see if anybody wants to trade because all the guys I targeted with this pick just got taken in front of me (seriously all 4 were taken with the 4 picks right before mine). |

[quote3647630="Stretch"]I agree with you Fonzie. People not making their picks at all are the worst. I'll admit that I thought my morning would go differently and that I'd be here to make my pick. I'd like to see us drop the window to 1 hour from Round 3 on.[/quote3647630] For what it's worth, I was just kidding when I gave you a hard time earlier about not having your utility on. I really don't have a problem with waiting an hour for the draft to resume. Hell, I don't have a problem with folks taking the entire allotted time, since those are the rules we've established. It's the no-shows/no-utility folks that drive me up the wall. I like your idea of reducing the time window after a certain point in the draft, but I fear an hour might not be long enough. It certainly would have the effect of getting folks to use the utility, though, so maybe such a brief window is worth serious consideration. Another thing I'd like us to consider is revisiting how we make draft picks for folks who are no-shows. I think, right now, we're being too kind in actually *thinking* about what folks might need. I'd rather see us do something more formulaic so as to avoid providing the no-show team any benefits. They are, after all, inconveniencing everyone by not at least using their utilities, and that's not cool. Instead, I'd propose that we simply look at in-game needs and choose the BPA from those positions based on bureau ratings and nothing else. If those listed "need" positions have already been filled via draft picks then we go with the generic BPA from all positions. Or something. Finally, I think it might be helpful if we tried to really, REALLY emphasize communication in future drafts. If you're not going to be available when your pick might come up, or if you're working on a trade that might take some time to resolve, make a post to that effect so that folks don't just hang around wondering when you'll make your pick. I should've done that last night, which might've alleviated some of the aggravation folks experienced. |
