It's funny. My mock draft only got 2 picks exactly right - Brooklyn and Las Vegas. Before I started working on it, I actually thought Brooklyn would be one of the hardest to predict because they could possibly go so many different directions.

I think Heupel makes a lot of sense, though. He'll make an early impact and be kind of a jack of all trades type - playing a big role in rushing, receiving and special teams.

I think you deserve at least partial credit for picking Lyon to go #2, even though to a different team than was slated in there orginally..

I agree.

Trying ot predict trades is crazy, but to do so in this league? :smt119

I think any pick predicted within 1 spot of where the player is actually drafted is pretty damn good.

I saw Emo at Summerfest once. He was funny as hell, but then I was pretty drunk too.

Derek Meadows was probably somewhat unexpected at #11, but we're moving him to CB, and I think he'll be a star.

I'm surprised he lasted until the 10th pick. I tried to trade up to get him, but I was a little concerned about his size. 5-11, 228 is very small for a MLB.

I can't believe he was there either, so I had to make a trade to get him.. I'll have to put some weight on him, I hope..

BTW, would you have took him if he was still there.??

That is a good question, and I really don't know. I would've been really torn if it came down to it. I've been planning on taking Meadows at 11 the whole time while trying to work out a trade to pick up another player like Harvill or etc.

My need at MLB would've made Harvill really hard to pass on if it came to that.

Why do people insist on ruining stud players?

If a CB is your need, trade down and get the best CB. Chances are he will be a better CB than a converted Safety.

This seems to be a trend and maybe I just don't get it. Can someone educate me with some anecdotal evidence at least?

Meadows is basically an AAA CB. (The 40 time is merely above average. Everything else is through the roof.) Here's some anecdotal evidence from last year's NAFL draft:

1.22 - SS Tito Mallard 6'0", 199 - 40: 4.45 Bench: 14 Agility: 7.25 Broad Jump: 8'2"

Tito is currently a 56/68 CB for the Patriots. I think that compares very favorably across the board to:

1.11 - SS Derek Meadows 6'0", 198 - 40: 4.46 Bench: 18 Agility: 6.94 Broad Jump: 8'1"

That doesn't make it a guarantee, of course. There's always a risk in making a position switch, but it seems to work pretty well for rookies that are the ideal size. (I wouldn't try this with a safety over 200 pounds, for example.) To me, Meadows was the only viable option at CB, but we'll see how it goes.

Also, can I take your complaint to mean you were considering Meadows?

Meadows was obviously a stud to be drafted before I would be able to get him but this is not the first time someone has taken a S to turn into a CB. Meadows was the earliest person I have seen drafted with the intent of being switched - the risk seems awfully high, but I have fairly limited experience with FOF and have rarely seen benefits to position changes, even rookies. Maybe I need to try it more.

It wasn't a complaint as much as a misunderstandng as to why someone who is the best available at their position would be switched considering what I perceive to be a substantial risk. I am just looking for an explanation for something I consider extreme. I can't say it's a bad idea either considering the secondary talent available in this draft.

I was going to take him at #8, but I needed the extra good player i can get at 2.9 more than I needed him.

I hear you, i liked osborne a lot, but my need at mlb combined with all of osborne's unknowns made me go with MLB Hailey, i looked very closely at mario harvill as well i just couldn't get past the weight issue, and i don't think he can bulk up, based on his height, i betting that the cp will say "further bulking up will not improve his performance"

in my experience i have never had great luck swithing a player from S to CB, sometimes the switch is no change, but never have a seen it say that it could increase the players rating, usually its a loss, the same can not be said for the reverse, switching a player from CB to S you can frequently increase a players rating. thats just some things i've noticed. good luck on the change, his volitity was too high for me to have taken a chance on but thats just me.

He won't get an immediate ratings bump for moving to CB, but he has the combine numbers to be very good. For example, I ran some test drafts in SP last night, solely looking for good candidates to move from S to CB.

The best athlete of the bunch showed up on the roster at 66/81 and dropped to 60/74 when I made the switch. After training camp he was 57/74. By the end of his second season he was 91/91.

I was trying to work my way back up to draft Osborne.

I think he's going to be an absolute stud. Congrats on a great pick!
