Hosting BKY, who are solid but our top tier talent should win out unless we screw the pooch. BKY does well in situational football on 3rd and with TOs so they know how to make the most of their roster for sure.

We come up short on a 3rd down run and pin them, and a quick sto pgets us the ball back in BKY territory. Fulton and TE Schulz combine to get us a TD. WR Fernandes helps them out with 2 big gains including the tying TD. We roll down to the RZ without needing a 3rd and overcoem a sack and 3rd and long letting Fulton do hsi thing withi goal to go early in teh 2nd for a TD.

Efficient work from BKY but they can't overcome the sack and pin us again. We are looking good battling out of our end but the rush derails a series and we punt i taway. Wr Fernandez ggrabs a coupel intermediate gains to ge tthem across mdifield at the 2 minute warning and ge ta FG before the half.

Quick game so far with just 8 possessions in the 1st half both teams hyper efficient and takign care of the ball.

BKy can't do anything after a ncie KR, Crabtree drops a deep shot and SPringer stops us on 3rd down. BKY pounds it some but stalls and Crabtree jus tseems off since last week now at 2/6 for 15 yards for us as we punt again. A bi screen gain for BKY gets them to our 12 and Fernandez gets hsi 2nd TD to put htem up 2 after a blocked XP. COnsecutive holding calls negate oru threat and a big PR sets BKY up at the 50. Our run D sets up a failed completion on 3rd so BKY boots it into the endzone and Crabtree breaks it open on a short pass for an 80 yard TD to have us up 5. Another failed completion on 3rdf for BKY as we near the end of the 3rd. Fulton rolsl his way to midfield on a few good runs but we get stuffed bigtime on a 3rd and 1.

BKY is battling and we help them with a DPI and they get the 20 ayrd screen gain on a 3rd and long and they pass it into the endzone on 3rd and medium inside the 10. We stuff them on the 2 pointer so their lead remains at 1. Running and intermediate passing gets us across midfield but another hold from our OL is followed by Woodard throwing a pick with 5 minutes left. BKY QB Staat is bold and hits 2 nice completions and they tack on 3 points with strong running at the 2 minute warning so we will need a TD. We get a 1st at tehir 27 with 32 seconds left mostly via short stuff but we are otu of TOs and a scramble means we only get one real shot from tehre.

Well that is pretty much oru season with our PO chance down to 12%. GG BKY, you guys are doing as well as anyoen could expect with yoru talent and beat us on 3rd down while also winning plenty of our dropbacks as we were nto efficient at all intermediate or deep and only had oen really explosive play and you gusy had 0 penalties. Very high quality team football!

GG Marven,

This one could have been much worse and you still whipped us pretty good.

Good game.

SHOCKER in Iowa City! Tucson, on defensive play, defeats Iowa City. Trap game for sure, but we'll take the win. Celebrations throughout the city tonight!

Sometimes this game gives me headaches... :x

GG Death Valley.... You have a lot of talent. Once again, the turnovers kept us from winning.... This is a disturbing trend.

I was just looking at my schedule and noted our trap game against you next week.

Maybe I'll be okay but I'd feel better if I could find the stats on trapping teams having back-to-back successful traps. lol

Post subject:  Vampires cruise through Hawaii 31-9 to top division

Honolulu, HI - QB Mitchem set the tone early with a huge bomb to WR Von Wyss that ended in a 18 yard catch and run TD to TE Sims and the Vampires cruised to a 31-9 score in Hawaii. HC Perkins' bunch is still undefeated since week 7, posting a league best 7 wins in a row and taking top spot in the Great Lakes division for the first time.

"We were able to make some plays early in the game," Perkins said, "and played well enough to keep the lead. Rusty was a little frustrated last week but he bounced back in a big way today."

Mitchem threw TD passes to TE Sims, Voinovich, and WR Stevenson, finishing with 24-33 for 274 yards and no interceptions. The clean play has been a DET strength this season as the team leads the CFL in turnover margin (-17) and turnovers (5, lower is better). A defensive success at all levels, DT Schindlebeck and the boys notched 4 sacks and FS Cox and CB Louis tallied 2 interceptions.

"Hunter's presence on the field has definitely given us a new dimension on that side of the ball." LB Agustoni said after the game, "Randall's been a little banged up so splitting the snaps keeps them both fresh. We're looking to play in January, so staying healthy is key."

HON has been in a tailspin, losing 4 straight and dropping from the top of the Ring of Fire into the wildcard hunt, and this week's performance did nothing to help. Rookie RB Gaiter suited up this game and the running back committee was moderately successful, but HON was forced to kick two FGs in the red zone when huge plays from LB Agustoni and CB Irwin kept the Hammerheads out of the end zone.

Honolulu travels to Los Angeles this week in a bid to keep their playoff dreams alive. The Vampires will enjoy a short vacation in the Aloha state before returning home to face Iowa City in the game that will decide the Great Lakes champion.

----

GG Shooter, hopefully you're still out there watching... ya gotta win the next 3, but I think you'll be able to once Gaiter starts getting fed!

Thanks sverngold for the help!
Vegas has the line at Rounders-10 next week.... might be enough value for Tucson to get a mention in the Betting Preview

I'm pretty sure you'll be just fine, since my team will be suffering a huge hangover from all the celebrations from this week's win.

GG Ushikawa,

I have been in the league a while and cannot remember offhand when the Brawlers have ever had a game with zero penalties. I thought we were doing a good job of keeping Crabtree in check and then he torched us with that 80 yard touchdown at the end of the third. The interception with 5 minutes left proved costly as it led to a FG that put us up by 4 points. If not for it, the Sodbusters would have probably won but you guys never gave up and and almost pulled off the comeback.

That was a needed win for Brooklyn, but next week is a huge game. The Brawlers host Atlantic City who already beat up on us earlier this year and now we have to repay the favor.
