Gg, Dean. The first three drives were key for us. Putting up 17 points early and forcing Brooklyn to play catch up all game pretty much killed any threat of their running game. Ortiz finally beats Brooklyn. Now, he has another shot at his first title for the second year in a row. This time, against a tough Fargo team, who doesn't seem to have any weaknesses. Good luck, Ush. |

Fargo had one weakness - Las Vegas.Good luck, Ush. Now Fargo has no weaknesses. I can't wait to see this chess match play out. Good luck to both teams! |

We will see how this goes, to be honest I don't mind losing but want to coach and have the players play a good game for once...our wrinkle on O was to put in our stud pass pro LT and move Horner to RT and the normal RT to RG while taming down the long passes a bit bc this is LVS. On D Instead of converted S Manning being rolled over all game we put another SS Langer down there and a mix of 2 high and Cover 1 with a blitzer. We get some completions and YAC but dry out at midfield without running it once. LVS starts out similar but then Rayburn finds the right edge and breaks off a 40 yard TD missingthe XP. 3andO for us as the run game led to a failed 3rd down pass. McKnight completes 2 but then is picked as they go for it all on a 10 route. The ground game and a couple Crabtree grabs ties things up plus 1. We pick McKnight once more on another shot play but come up short on 3rd and 7 and convert eh 4th and 1 via penalty. 2 big edge runs have us in teh RZ and a LVS personal foul isn't enough to get us 6 so we settle for the FG. 3 straight 2andOs as both teams are filling the gaps and tackling well.We battle a bit and LVs gets a 2nd sack with a personal foul on teh D but back to back sacks from their 31 lead to a punt. Our D continues to tackle very well and we move it conservatively in the 2M but miss the long FG. Only up by 4 despite getting an unheard of 2 picks off of McKnight. D loosk very solid though. LVS hits a doubled TE Finch on the 10 route but we stand on our haeads from our 2 forcing them back to a FG. Another failed completion on 3rd down for us but our own rush stops LVS in 3 plays as well. Fence grabs one on a double post concept for more tan 50 yards and Mitchem scrambles into the endzone. A penalty and TFL push LVs back into a very long 3rd which Gmrek can't pick up. Our ground game gets some life driving us down to the RZ and 2 Crabtree grabs later we are up 15. LVS puts together a nice string of balanced plays but WR Lindle drops the pass on 3rd and 2 in the endzone so they settle for 3. 3and again for our O and LVS fumbles the PR but recovers. Another big run and a YAC chunk by Vanagas but then things fall off for LVS and they end up with Gmrek 5 yards short of the stikcs on a 4th and 7 pretty much ending things. We grind the clock down to inside of a minute like the conference champs that we are despite letting LVS run back the KR for a TD. This one was certianly different, we held them to 12 points aided by strong situational performance and won the TO battle by 2. Holzer quietly racked up 175 yards on 29 carries despite a long of only 16 while both passing games struggled to generate YAC and really we had just 3 big chunk plays between the 2 teams. We also took a lot of pressure but Mitchem didn't get rattled. LVs went 7/7 intermediate while we hit 2 of our 3 deep passes. Well give us enough chances and we got it done. See you again soon Turf. |

We only had 6 penalties today but 4 of them extended drives.Only up by 4 despite getting an unheard of 2 picks off of McKnight. D loosk very solid though. I dialed back the runs due to Gmerek playing his 3rd straight game "tired" and also dialed back the long passing a bit but the timing of the ones we left in wasn't ideal. The storyline is the same as most games - red zone conversions. We had a pick and a drop in the end zone to go along with getting stonewalled at the goalline. A great GP and excellent execution by Fargo today. Good luck in the Bowl! |

Congrats Steel, Like you said...we were playing catch-up all day. The Brawlers never could put their nose in front. It was a tale of two halves for Woodford, meanwhile Ortiz and the Bulldog offense kept to the task. The pick six was not so much as a nail in the coffin as it was the first shovel full of dirt. Good luck against Fargo and we will be routing for you, Dean PS...No disrespect Ush and congrats on dethroning the Champ, but we have to back our conference. Looking forward to the CFL Bowl...67 degrees and rainy with a 6 mph wind. The Sodbusters are the 3 point favorites against the Bulldogs. |
