Full Ushi treatment for Conference Championship obviously...while ALA has been successful over the eyars we actually haven't crossed paths often in the POs since 2055. on O we will use a heavy dose of edge running and are going to trust the TE2 Boon can handle TE Moffitt's heavy target share as he got hurt last game. They have similar boundary cover corners and good size in the front 7 so hopefully we can get to the edge in the ground game and our top WRs can win some 1v1s when needed. On D ALA runs a lot of lo-hi and has a viable run game and their MO has been similar to ours, stay ahead of the chains and convert on 3rd. We will be dropping 8 a good bit and mostly playing 2 high and think regardless of which QB plays we should be able to force some mistakes. It will be a cold one and sometimes Holzer struggles in that climate but otherwise I think TOs should decide this one.

Cold isn't bothering Holzer early as he rips off 37 on the right side and then 13 to the left, we can't battle back from a holding call and settle for 3 points. 3 solid tackles gets us the 3andO, we arre strugglign ot break a tackle on early downs but convert 2 3rds and Holzer rips off another chunk to the right but it's called back on a holding call and we can't convert eh 3rd and long. A TE screen jumpstarts ALA's possession and they grind out another set of chains before RB Barker roasts us for a 50 yard score with a missed XP on a bad snap. The right side yields once more to HOlzer off tackle and TE Boon rips off 47 on a catch and run and Holzer runs it up the gut for the TD.

Barker gashes us once and then QB Linquist enters the game at QB for ALA randomly even though Gomez is 3/3 for 21 yards (???) and prompty connects ona deep shot to WR Gruber in stride for a 55 yard TD strike. We start at oru 7 after a penalty on the KR and only move the chinas once but a 67 net yard punt pins ALA at their 5. They get us with another screen and tack on 15 for a personal foul but do no more damage. Sherman throws a quick on to WR Sigrest but LB Bauer steps in front and takes it back for the pick 6. We battle a bit but get a fialed complete on 3rd and 6 but also tackle them short of the sticks on tehir own 3rd and we take the PR back for a TD to make it a 3 point game once more. We are stopping the deep shots but Linquist is matriculating it down the field with 3rd down wizardry but we get an INT just after they cross midfield at the 2M mark. We get down to long FG range but then take a penalty and sack and TE Boon bails us out on 3rd and 15 and we get the tying FG to close the half.

hard to say now who has the edge both teams have scored and moved the ball mostly on big chunk plays. We aren't forcing incompletions though and that has me worried...

Linquist continues to dominant on 3rd and they hit a shot play on 2nd and 2 adding on two more chain moving runs to set up 1st nad goal but our D holds tight from 2nd and goal from teh 1 so they just get the FG. e Boon bails us out of another 3rd and long and we dink dust and scramble our way to the RZ and X Sigreset grabs the 3rd down pass in teh endzone. We get the 3andO with mroe solid tackling and ALA tears off a 72 air yard punt. We take a big sack and then try TE Boon once mroe but throw the pick this time settting ALA up at our 28. And they ind themselve once more inside our 5.

And we get the strip sack and recovery to end the threat. Holzer is toatally dried up and even sat most of the 3rd quarter but we get a ncie chunk from Sigrest on3 3rd to get off oru end. We continue to dink and dust our way across midfiled with boon up to 6/8 for 120 while Crabtree is being locked down by those boundary cover CBs. We are starting ot get familiars on 113 playcalls and Crabtree gets nother completion but can't break away from any tackles today at 4/8 for 22 and we settle for the FG and 7 point lead with 5 minutes left. We get them into a 3rd and logn afte a penalty but Wr Greer burns us deep for 38 and surgically move it down the field to tie things up with 1:34 left. We can't do more than burn clock ona screen catch but at least get a good punt off so they take over at their 11 with 45 ticks left. They get oen chunk but then vet SS Watkisn gets through on a blitz and we get the strip sack recovery TD to end the game.

Wow...that was just cruel Marven. Weird to think what mighta happened if Gomez had stayed in, although Linquist put up a 110 rating but of course that doesn't include the 2 fumbles. Certianly wasn't the script we anticipated but feelign very fortunate to ome away with the W.

Uncharacteristically we were gashed on teh ground and air, had 11 penalties. TE Boon was the hero comign back to a starting role and leading our receivers both in production and efficiency as those boundary CBs shut down our WRs. .
