Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. Cheesehead Craig proudly presents to you the 2072 Santa Cruz Surfers Draft Review!!!

1.6 RG Nick Shannon

The top OG in the class was a dream come true for the Surfers who have had OL issues for years. This is a massive upgrade. Just dominated the Mountain West Conference and earned the Outland Trophy for top Interior Lineman. "Gotta win the trenches" is the mantra for the pick here.

Draft - 39/87
TC - 46/86
JD - 46/85

2.7 WR Seth Koester

Needing to upgrade the WR corps, Seth brings in a boost of all around talent. Fast and agile, he looks to make an immediate impact as either the SE or the slot. Second year QB Stan Willis needs some targets and Seth looks the part.

Draft - 35/47
TC - 39/46
JD - 38/45

4.7 TE Quinn Gambone

More help for Willis is the theme of the first half of the draft as Quinn is a hell of a receiving TE. His combine was very similar to the TEs taken in the 1st and 2nd rounds and really could be a steal here. A Grad transfer from Rice to Maryland, his one year of big time football showed he has potential and the Surfers certainly hope this pick pays off.
Draft - 33/49
TC - 37/46
JD - 34/48

5.6 LB Cooper Alston

He's got the size for a WLB and has a shot at starting the season there. Looks to be a solid special teamer as well.

Draft - 19/39
TC - 21/43
JD - 22/32

6.7 CB Tyler Oliver

Jack of all trades with solid bars and combine, he's looking to be brought in for dime packages and special teams. He's a heck of a kick returner as well.

Draft - 24/47
TC - 25/43
JD - 23/34

7.6 S Miguel Reeves

Because I needed a Safety.

Draft - 14/36
TC - 18/30
JD - 18/41

Obviously happy that Shannon, Koester, and Gambone all held their ratings. That may be a first for me in a long time that none of my top picks didn't bust.

Big surprise that Reaves jumped +11 on future, that's huge for a 7th rounder. Will need to get him on the field and see if the bumps keep coming.
