Woot!

RDT Phil Weaver checked into mini-camp today and left an impression of 45/57.

Not bad for the 14th selection in the 5th round.

Now, if we can only sign him.

I don't appear to be able to offer contracts to anyone with this file. Is that intended? Is it just me?

Same here. Perhaps there's another step the commish needs to complete before we can move on to the rookie negotiation/late FA stage?

With regard to my draftees, I was happy to see that none of my high-volatility picks crapped out right away. I was also [i0b65004]extraordinarily[/i0b65004] happy to see that 10-year pro Carl Markey, a WR nearly cut in the offseason, boomed from a 42/42 benchwarmer to a 64/64 starter!

Dola-

Punter draftee and UTEP product Kim Wayne boomed nine points, up to 75/75. :)

Starting linebacker Brian Gaylord lost 5/6, making it difficult to see him getting playing time next season. :(

FB Bubba Sweeney, who I took 4.27 was [b13565f3]30/57[/b13565f3] before the draft and is now [b13565f3]51/80[/b13565f3]!!!

Looks like I got a franchise FB. . .

FS Geoff Gerhardt, who I took 5.28 was [b13565f3]17/49[/b13565f3] before the draft and is now [b13565f3]21/54[/b13565f3].

CB Alonzo Bishop, who I took 3.9, was the biggest bust for me, dropping from [b13565f3]10/52[/b13565f3] to [b13565f3]0/21[/b13565f3].

ILB Lester Partin was a 28/61 during the draft.
Now he's an 18/40.

FB Gurode was a 20/52. Now he's a 19/41.

:x :x :x

RB Benton was a 21/42. Now he's a 21/35.

My first round pick even dropped a couple of points.

My scout is getting dipped in milk gravy and thrown in a cage full of rabid weasels on crank.

Stretch

A couple busts that I noticed (besides the ones already mentioned here):

Chicago's 2.9 CB Karl Czaplicki is now 6/31. I don't have the pre-draft ratings handy, but I'm guessing this reflects a healthy bust.

Honolulu's 2.31 RDT Mark Williamson is now 6/22. I had considered taking this guy a few spots earlier - and boy did I dodge a bullet!

Old guys suck!

Just for those who didn't already know.

It appears as though the 10 year mark is when guys like to toss -6/-6 on me. Oh wait, except for WR's in my division. Someone needs to check Fonzie's Geritol jar, apparently there's a little something more in the G-Pills...

Chi notable rookie changes....

TE Gerald Thorpe (2-6) 29/62 and is now 30/67
CB Carl Czaplisucki (2-9) 20/55 and is now 6/31 (Guess I should have kept the extra TE instead of the worthless CB).
OT Junior Candfiled (7-6) 3/42 and is now 3/33

Pretty shitty overall effort at the draft.

It appears as though the biggest boom this year is an 8 year vet at RG who is still a free agent.

Ex-Rounder Robert Rains improved 42/40 in the off-season. He went from 31/37 to 73/77.

Unfortunately, his Endurance is still 0.

Other notable players:

Biggest BOOMS in Future Value

Growth Name Pos Expr Team 2007 2006
42/40 Rains, Robert RG 8 FA 73/77 31/37
25/25 Abeyta, Frederick TE 6 Hon 75/75 50/50
22/22 Markey, Carl FL 10 Tuc 64/64 42/42
15/10 Davis, K.C. LT 2 LBE 75/75 60/65
12/9 Capoccia, Ethan C 4 SCU 93/93 81/84
10/9 Dalessio, Gene RCB 10 FA 39/43 29/34

Sorry for the format, it's as good as it gets for now.

Biggest BUSTS in Current Value

Growth name Pos Expr team 2007 2006
-42/-35 Woolery, Tracey RB 8 FA 18/25 60/60
-40/-40 Heflin, Robert C 10 HBE 22/22 62/62
-36/-33 Crowder, Charles WLB 9 Cha 39/42 75/75
-32/-36 Witherspoon, Emmanuel RG 5 FA 11/24 43/60
-28/-8 Macaluso, Brian SLB 9 Ore 49/69 77/77
-27/-26 Epps, Tony MLB 10 SCU 49/50 76/76
-26/-27 Gallegos, Wesley C 14 HBE 47/48 73/75
-25/-24 Gregg, William LG 11 Tuc 38/44 63/68

So the recap is this:

Cap casualty from my squad last year, Rains, is now a FA that more than doubled in current and future value. The 2nd and 3rd biggest BOOMS are on two of my division rivals' rosters. Not looking good so far for the Rounders...

Good stuff, TT. How does it feel to know that you could have filled your hole at Guard by re-signing a sucky 8 year vet? Now you'll actually have to bid on him if you want to go after him. :)

Poor William wasn't really a bust so much as he ripped his knee to shreds last season. He's finally recovered to the point of being 'probable,' and this is the result. :(

I've got enough age on the team. He wasn't good enough to start for me last year and that's how she goes. Besides, he probably boomed based on the fact that he left. I suggest everyone either trades for all of my guys or picks up everything I cut for that reason.

I'll leave the contenders to the bidding wars.

Fonzie,

I know what you mean, I lost one of my better WR's to injury in the last game of the year and he tanked. He's back to Probable with 2 weeks to full strength and he lost some more points after the draft. Now he's garbage.

The Scrape utility just compares numbers from the previous season and it just tracks changes with BOOM or BUST as the header.

No big changes for any of my drafted guys which is both good and bad. Hopefully they aren't waiting until after training camp to show their true colors.

Were both career-ending injuries suffered last year on our offensive line. We are still waiting to see if our #1 WR is able to come back from a compound leg fracture.

And... Nathan Unknow (Franchised CB) is holding out. @#$%!

I got a boom with G Kevin Levine reporting to mini-camp as an 18/66... a +6/+18 change from pre-draft ratings. Not bad for a fifth-round pick!

My DT John Butt also suffered a pretty big drop after last year's injury. I don't have the data, but I know his potential was in the 60's or so before he went down. He's now a 32/36 guy.
