Ugly game vs El Paso. Oh well, it's only preseason.

Damn AI reset my roster for some reason...I'm almost certain I had everything right! [img86cee30]http://www.fof-ihof.com/phpBB2/images/s ... n_rant.gif[/img86cee30]

Ah well, no serious injuries at least...

I escaped the "F(l)ag Football Bowl" without any major injuries, so I couldn't be happier. Bring on Week 1....

Damnit. I knew I shouldn't have left Fritz McMurray active.

When do we have to be down to 53 players? And you know what really sucks, you have to cut 3 players and 2 of them that are sure fire cuts get hurt :(

I am not happy. Somehow my rosters were all reset and now I lost my star CB for 2 weeks. Not to mention that all of my normal starters were in place.

I was looking at your roster after week 4 and I'm pretty sure Adams was already hurt (and out for 3 weeks). If he was in your week 4 lineup and you didn't adjust it to fill the hole his injury created in the secondary then the AI probably did its thing and adjusted your depth charts.

Blah, another loss.

This one, a bit more respectable, it was a close game that ended in OT.

It was definitely a preseason game though, marred by what could be a record 28 total penalties!

My starting FS is out for the opener, but Sherman Lee finally reached 100% health. He took little or no hit after suffering an ACL injury in the first preseason game last season.

meh, this is frustrating.. can someone send me the box scores and game logs please?

We really should look into a different way of cataloging this stuff... I've been meaning to say something for 3 seasons ;)

Sent.

Yeah, a different way of storing these files would be useful.

Castlerock, this might be a good idea for that commissioner utility that you were talking about. Do you think you could come up to something that would parse all of the box scores/game log files, zip them up week/week, and create an index page that contains links to each of them?

Anything is possible... It's just a matter of how much time it takes to do. :-)

Is there some kind of pattern to the box/log filenames? Or would I need to open it up and then read the data to determine which week they are for?

No, there isn't a pattern with the filenames. You'd have to parse the file to extract this information.

Unfortunately we're also in the situation where some of our box scores/game logs have been overwritten. If you download the files from the files page to get the previous seasons' files, you'll notice that some duplicate names have been used. I would love to get this fixed, but it would involve renaming a lot of files and also updating the binary file to use the new file names... I know it is possible to do this with a utility, but I don't know if it is worth the effort. However, automatically archiving all of the box scores/game logs (including new ones each week) would be more worthwhile.

Are you willing to work on something like this?

Well, the results from my real world experiment show that having the AI run your team during preseason is worthless. While I haven't examined each week seperately, I can see from the latest export that the AI is trying to win every game and starting the best possible players at each position. The worst part is that the ones that need development aren't even active to get scrub duty. Quite a waste of the preseason in my eyes. With that said, I am lucky to have escaped without any serious injuries.

Updating the binary data in the *.fbo/.flo files isn't too hard, it can be done with a hex editor.

What kind of server-side scripting do we have available with our host? PHP? ASP?

Both php and asp works, and even ASP.NET runs on this server.

Hmmm. Never done any ASP or ASP.NET. Maybe its time to take it for a test drive.

3ric, have you ever used ASP.NET? Do you like it? After using C#, I can't imagine ever going back to C++. I am hoping that ASP.NET is a similiar leap forward in productivity.

You can write ASP.NET applications with C#, my latest project at work was with that combination. It's very smooth, much better integrated with Visual Studio.
