Post subject:  Week 1 - Klemu's Gam

Well, sports fans, it's that time of year again. I know that you all have been waiting anxiously for my first installment of the Games of the Week. Before we get onto business I thought that I'd let you all know that the Mooseport Mousse had a fabulous season last year. Unfortunately, I missed most of the season because of a nagging injury to my index finger. So, I had plenty of time to ponder over the new season. I'm going to start off slow this year, giving you only two games of the week. As the great teams emerge, I'll add or subtract from that number accordingly. Without any further pomp, nor circumstance, I give you the Week 1 games of the week:

[b1702416]#2 - Sacramento (0-0) at Huntington Beach (0-0)[/b1702416]
Why should I watch this game? Last year Huntington Beach got off to a great start and it looked like they were going to run away with the division. However, Sacramento had something to say about that. In the last week of the season, Huntington Beach needed a Sacramento loss in order to win the division and make it to the playoffs. Sacramento, in control of their own fate, put the thumbscrews directly to Santa Cruz and indirectly to Huntington Beach, by beating the Privateers in the final game of the regular season. With the dolorous stroke dealt, the Dragons went off to the playoffs, winning the San Andreas Division, and leaving the other two behind. Now, it's payback time. This year, the same three teams should be in the running for the San Andreas Crown.

What should I expect? Expect Sacramento's Seymour Barre and Alex Rounds to re-establish themselves as the passing and rushing threats in the San Andreas Division. However, they are going to have a hard time doing that in this game, especially if they are relying on having a healthy Center. Both Rookie, Clyde Hartman and veteran backup Quentin Slater are going to be out for the game. This means that Sacramento will have to scramble to find somebody to cover the middle. Accordingly, look for Capitalist Safety Justin Luck to be blitzing up the middle every opportunity that he gets. Luck won't have to worry about his coverage duties, since Sacramento only has three healthy WR's.

Klemu's Kall: Vegas has the Capitalists by one. If Sacramento were healthy, they'd own Huntington Beach in this game. But, the truth is that Sacramento has a couple of key players out for this match up. On top of that, due to Sacramento's salary cap problems, they still have three unsigned rookie draftees that are waiting to come play for them. This doesn't bode well for Sacramento. Klemu says Huntington Beach by three.

[b1702416]#1 - Seattle (0-0) at Boise (0-0)[/b1702416]
Why should I watch this game? The Ring of Ice division was strongest divsion in the CFL last year. Seattle didn't make the playoffs with a (10-6) record. Oregon won the division, but Boise was the team that made it to the conference finals, losing to two-time Champions, Honolulu. Additionally, Anchorage was not as week of a team as their sub-500 record might indicate. This conference matchup will pit two star QB's at each others throats. Seattle's Charles Dever is a magician in the backfield and Boise's Branden Lin is as good of a quarterback as the CFL has, with two western division championship games under his belt. However, Boise looks like they are on the downslide and Seattle is improving each season. Seattle's big offseason acquisition, WLB Jamal Manning was signed to try and bolster a pathetic defense.

What should a expect? A shootout. Pure and simple. Although Seattle has improved their defense significantly, they still need a lot of help at cornerback. Max Determan is not the answer and LCB and Rusty Scott is still wet behind the ears. Branden Lin will be licking his chops to get the ball to his receivers. At the same time, Boise's corners are no better, being held down by Journeymen Boris Kammerer and Foster Ibanez. Charles Dever will in turn be looking to get the ball to his receivers, particularly Cole Faison.

Klemu's Kall: Vegas says Boise by 1. Klemu says Seattle by 5. This Klemu's upset special of the week. Enjoy it while you can. Bet it while the window are still open. Cole Faison has a ridiculous day, but Dever gets the MVP.

[b1702416]Klemu's Gaim uv teh Sux!

Albany (0-0) at Cleveland (0-0)[/b1702416]
Why should I watch this game? Because it was your grandfather's dying wish that you do so.

What should I expect? 22 men bumbling about the football field.

Klemu's Kall: Go visit grandpa's grave instead. He'd appreciate it more.
