Today I'm looking at 3 punters selected in the 2007 draft and seeing how their seasons are going so far. First up is 5'11 198 [b9a5af30]Derek Shields[/b9a5af30] selected 25th in the 3rd round by Arizona. Derek was the highest future rated punter in the draft. [b9a5af30]Game - Punts - Avg[/b9a5af30] 1st - 4 - 35.7 2nd - 8 - 39.8 3rd - 4 - 39.5 4th - 4 - 42.5 5th - 5 - 43.4 6th - 4 - 39.2 7th - 5 - 41.6 8th - 6 - 37.3 Total - 40 - 39.9 - lg 60 - Best Avg - 43.4 Worst Avg - 35.7 Difference - 7.7 Shields seems to be a very consistent punter, not a huge leg but gets the job done. Plus he gets kick inside the twenty - 40 punts 20 inside. 50% avg. Great Job!!!! Next up is [b9a5af30]Kim Wayne[/b9a5af30] 5'11 196 took with the 28th pick of the 3rd round by El Paso. Wayne came out of college as one of the strongest punters ever and he even did the kicking for his senior season. [b9a5af30]Game - Punts - Avg[/b9a5af30] 1st - 4 - 36.2 2nd - 8 - 41.6 3rd - 4 - 38.3 4th - 4 - 38.0 5th - 5 - 44.2 6th - 4 - 41.0 7th - 5 - 40.3 8th - 6 - 40.6 Total - 47 - 40.2 - lg 60 - Best Avg - 44.2 Worst Avg - 36.2 Difference - 8.0 Wayne has a huge leg and doesn't disappoint. Plus he has tried to kick for the Rockets, FG 5/7 - lg35 - XP 2/4. Rumors has it that Wayne is going to have his kicking duties stripped because of his poor performance in last weeks game. Keep up the good work!!! Lastly there is [b9a5af30]Horace Knowlton[/b9a5af30] fattest punter at 5'10 214 and the highest current rated out of the draft. He was selected by Charleston 30th in the 3rd round. [b9a5af30]Game - Punts - Avg[/b9a5af30] 1st - 4 - 52.7 2nd - 8 - 39.2 3rd - 3 - 40.0 4th - 2 - 43.5 5th - 3 - 33.6 6th - 5 - 40.8 7th - 5 - 47.0 8th - 5 - 46.4 9th - 4 - 42.0 Total - 39 - 42.8 - lg 66 - Best Avg - 52.7 Worst Avg - 33.6 Difference - 19.1 Man this guy can blast the ball out of the stadium but he can also shank a couple.
