Okay, I'm at my wits end here. Perhaps one of my CFL colleagues can help. I've been trying to renegotiate the contract for SLB Joseph Watsford to free up some cap room and have offered him exactly what he asked for - but he rejected it. I then upped the offer substantially (including bonus) - which he still rejected. I upped the bonus and salary even further, and he still rejected it. What is going on?

I've never franchised him, so he can't be pissed at me for that. He has a low loyalty, which might be part of the problem here, but his agent is just an "average" stubborn negotiator. Watford also doesn't need to play for a winner (although I think we qualify as a "winner"). Can anybody tell me what's going on with this guy?

I suppose it might be cool to think that he doesn't want to be tied-up long term and wants to test free agency when his contract runs out - but he still has another year left on his contract. I'd think he'd want to take my $9.5 million bonus and run with it.

Is his agent Eugene Parker?

I've never seen this, but I'm happy to hear that it does occur.

I've had the same problem with my OLB Victor Ginn. I never tried offering him way over his asking price, but I've tried going a little over it. He rejects everything. I assume it must be a past injustices thing, but I have no clue why.

That's what I was initially thinking, but I don't know what I've done to offend him. I've never franchised him, and he's been a starter his entire career. He's simply being a stupid jerk. :(

And I mean [i69f5ffe]really[/i69f5ffe] stupid - he's missing out on a $9.5 million payday when he still has 2 years left on his contract. Moron.

I'm having the same exact problem with my DE Aaron. He has high loyalty, has always been paid well, and I started by giving him what he requested. I haven't gone way over but I have been upping the offer. He's never been digruntled nor franchised. I don't have the software at work so I don't know who/how is agent is.

Maybe I should upgrade to 5.1D before 2nd FA to see if that helps.

I guess I will upgrade as well. I doubt that has anything to do with the problem, but who knows...

I bet thats what it is. If I recall, something was changed regarding contract demands. So you might be offering something lower than what he is really requesting.

Wow. You're right. I just updated and Ginn is asking for a different contract. About 2 million more with a bigger bonus than before.
Hopefully he isn't pissed about the other contracts I offered.

Speaking of renegotiations, the last 2 players with big salaries finally accepted my offers, allowing me to free enough space to be able to sign Titone...

Has it ever occured to you that maybe he just does not want to play for you? :)

Bah! Perish the thought! I'm a delight to play for - I only force my players to massage my toes and wax my buttcheeks once per week.

Actually, it turned out to be a 5.1d issue - I now see that he wanted more than I was offering.

I wonder if this affects the free agents signing you've been going after as well.

Well damn. That explains quite a few things. The kicker is that I had thought I'd already upgraded this machine to 5.1d and had been using it for months with this "problem." :x

Hmmm, that just sucks.

I couldn't land any free agents this off season and have effectively wasted a season then.

I don't think the version is entirely the case though cause I was offering money above and beyond what the winning bidders got them for, unless we're saying the offers also appeared differently in the old version.

I plan to upgrade tonight and see what happens with my renegotiation.

I didn't have much trouble signing free agents, and I wasn't using the new version until today. There was one case when I offered a guy a deal very slightly better than the one he accepted, but he chose to stay on the same team so it was legit.

I have no idea why guys were rejecting Vegas's offers, but I don't think it was the version entirely.

I suspect the rumors of Vegas' belligerent, narcissistic ownership must have been widely distributed amongst the players in free agency. :)

Well, it is posted on the CFL Players Association's website.

What do you mean rumors?!

These accurate statements are what I like to refer to as "truths" or "facts".

I believe the reason we were unable to sign any free agents is directly related to our coaching staff.

Coach Strong and the boys are under immense pressure from the Rounder's front office to produce results this year. Otherwise, we'll be talking about why coaches don't want to come work for Vegas next year when I try to replace them all.

BTW, I'd agree with aggressive, antagonistic, bellicose, cantankerous, combative, contentious, hostile, militant, nasty, ornery, pugnacious, scrappy, and truculent, but I would have to disagree with narcissistic. What about my feelings?

First you take all of my players. Again. And now you kick my fragile ego in the nuts by calling me narcissistic? You are a very bad man Fonzie, may you be cursed to be a Packer's fan forever! :P

I failed to mention that you were also garrulous. :D

[quoteae2f777]First you take all of my players. Again.[/quoteae2f777]

I only drafted them because their agents called me up and said "hey dude - if you don't draft us TurfToe will and we can't have that shit so draft us nkay?" and so I said "nkay" and drafted 'em so they wouldn't have to have that shit.

Yes I do.
