Our 7th game this season decided by 4 points or less. At least we were on the winning side this time.

Down by 3, we drive all the way down to Santa Cruz's 5 yard line in about 2 minutes, but have to kick the FG as time expires. We win the OT coin toss, only to miss a FG. Then we get an interception and kick the game winner. Whew.

Dustin Hayes had his coming out party today in Fargo. He completed 25 of 34 passes for 351 yards with four touchdowns and NO interceptions as we finally got that Fargo monkey off of our backs, 38-35. :D

Edit: Oh, and Tom Sonkin (the league's leading receiver) not only caught six passes for 170 yards and a score (breaking his team record for single season receiving yards in the process), but he also returned two kick offs for 131 yards...one of them for 95 yards and a touchdown!

Memphis, El Paso is looking for revenge next week...

Damnit, the tactic almost worked... we led over Charleston for three quarters but couldn't hold on in the final period.

We might have won the battle, but we probably just lost the war.

A convincing 37-7 win over in-state rival Arizona didn't do much to lift spirits in the Toros locker room, as we learned that QB Milan "Colonel" Hogan will likely miss the next four weeks with a strained patellar tendon. Why Hogan was still playing in the 4th quarter of a blowout win is something we'll need to ask coach Ken "Dead Man" Wickes at his next news conference.

Until his injury, Hogan was having an excellent game, going 19/27 for 172 yards and 3 TD. Drew Holliday was the other bright spot for the Toros offense, gaining 144 yards on 21 carries. The Toros defense gathered up four turnovers in one of their best showings all season.

Second-year pro Daryl Cassidy. acquired in the offseason from Tampa Bay, will take over for Hogan in his absence. His first CFL start will come against his old team next week in Tampa Bay.

*sigh*

The season's over.

We were up by 13 midway through the 4th quarter. An interception led to a Long Beach touchdown. That's ok. We were still up 6. With 1:47 to go, we got them into 3rd and 17 at their own 6 yard line.
[code53f022e]3-17-LBE06 (01:47) LBE 2 Urrutia pass completed to 82 Worden for 45 yards.
1-10-HBE49 (01:25) LBE 2 Urrutia pass completed to 87 Lore for 49 yards and a touchdown![/code53f022e]
:x

In the remaing seconds, we turned the ball over on downs. Instead of taking a knee, Long Beach decides to kick a field goal.
1-10-HBE39 (00:13) LBE 8 Swallow attempted a 56 yard field goal and succeeded.

They then had to kick off to us. Damn I wish we could have run that back! Really poor coaching.

Welcome to the club Fonz!

That's 2 ROF QB's Arizona has taken care of this year. I think Arizona may be Honolulu's leading MVP candidate this year...

A close win against division rival Albany is always a good thing...

I've got mixed feelings about this game, I feel we really should have won by a much wider margin.

But our offense sucked, especially in the red zone where we were just plain pathetic (4 visits, only 3 FGs... ). We also hurt ourselves with 11 penalites...and lost 2 key starters to injuries for 3 and 6 weeks...

On the plus side, no turnovers, very good news after the past weeks. And an excellent defense, with an outstanding pass rush, with 6 sacks and 9 hurries, Mc Farland spent most of the day with his ass in the grass... :)

dola-

and I've realized just now that I swept Albany, which is extremely good news for the tiebreaker, I think I'll need this at the end of the season...

This isn't a very fun club you're running, TurfToe. Can't you at least get some strippers or something to liven it up a bit?

I mean, really...

Heh. I'll gladly send Tu to the bench after the first drive as we'll have clinched by then. :D

Don't think for a second that he'll be safe there. Arizona is vicious - they'll find him.

You might also want to consider hiring armed escorts to get Tu back to his car safely after the game. Just in case.

When Eddie Crawford checked the rearview mirror, all he could see was Erwin Koch going the other way with the football. Way to go Shreveport! Now if we can win out the rest of the season, maybe we can make the playoffs!

Wait we've got the CFL Champion Denver Dynomite coming to town next week . . .

Our crack Grounds Manager just finished painting the stadium sewage-brown, thus decreasing the chances that Denver actually find it amidst its camouflage.

I feel really good about holding your team to 3 FG's but just got too beat up to mount a come back. My starting RG went down for 40 weeks and my RB went down for 32 weeks, very painful loss to you indeed.
