My first round pick, CB Brady Scott, got his ass in gear and signed before training camp. I wonder if he heard the rumor that we would have waited him out until the 3rd week in the regular season. Although he looked to be a bust initially, he had a good training camp and should be starting on opening day.
My second round pick, FS Louie Reed, got trumped by the incumbent. I guess he didn't take too kindly to new blood at his position. Louie didn't have a good training camp, but my other FS had a really good training camp. Louie will be no more than a back up this year.
My third round pick, DE Scottie Berosik, will be riding pine and playing in relief of my starters. I didn't draft him to start, I drafted him to be a quality backup, which is the road that he seems to be taking.
My fifth round pick, P Alan Solwold, did not turn any heads in training camp. However, the incumbent punter did. Alan was resting on his laurels that he was drafted relatively high for a punter. Unfortunately for him, somebody else was working hard during the offseason. Solwold will need to battle for a spot on the roster and may end up on the outside when preseason is over.
My sixth round pick, LB Rondell Talley, looks like he will be the pass rush specialist that we were looking for. He still is pretty raw and needs to refine his technique, but has a powerful rush and is a punishing hitter. He'll most likely make the team, I'll have to find a spot for him.
My seventh round pick, G Everett Knight, is a pleasant surprise. I didn't think that he'd make the roster this year, but he had a good training camp and my scouts say that he will be a reliable back up. This will allow me to let go one of my more veteran backups. Everett Knight will make the team.
