Post subject:  The Winds of Change

It was reported here during the offseason that "the leadership team of the Chicago Hitmen promised big changes" and it looks like they meant it. After being devastated by a critical injury that took Hardesty, the starting QB, out for the entire season and possibly ending his career, the Hitmen have started the season 0-4. The offense to date has been absolutely inept. In a surprising move, both starting WR's (Spates and Schwartz) were shipped off to Boston. In return, the Hitmen acuired a first this year, two firsts next year, a first the following year, and two WRs to fill the void left by Spates and Schwartz. In past seasons the Hitmen have failed to utilize any of its WR talent. While this was supposed to change this season, the untimely injury to Hardesty has placed this team right back to a one dimensional run oriented offense. While its hard to argue with the exceptional value of four first round picks and two journeyman WR's this deal is a shocker. WR's like Spates and Schwartz are difficult to come by in the CFL and all four of those picks may fail to replace even one of those guys. Only time will tell whether this trade was brilliant or boneheaded.
