Post subject:  Timmy's mock draft:

[bb142ead]1.Chicago - QB Kerry Wells, The Citadel[/bb142ead]
The Hitmen probably won't be able to resist the chance to grab a franchise quarterback with the first pick. Wells is the best QB prospect in the draft and the best prospect from The Citadel. Ever. Though somewhat undersized at 5-10, Wells is more developed than most rookie quarterbacks, and if he can learn a few formations in training camp, he could step right in and perform as good or better than any Chicago quarterback has for years.

[bb142ead]2.Santa Cruz - OLB Jeffrey Whitfield, Kansas[/bb142ead]
Santa Cruz's two biggest holes are at QB and OLB so they really lucked out having two top ten picks with this draft class. Basically S.C. can't go wrong with the second pick. The sky is the limit for Whitfield who has the potential to be the best outside linebacker the CFL has ever seen.

[bb142ead]3.Albany - S Grady Barlow, Oregon State[/bb142ead]
Typically you wouldn't see a safety drafted in the top 3, but Barlow had a great combine and may be able to make the move to corner. In any case, Albany's secondary is their biggest weakness, so Barlow makes the most sense, although they could go with DE Hunter Alcott to try to solidify their defensive front. I don't think they'll do that, though, as Barlow could end up being the best player to come out of this draft, especially if he can make the move to corner where he could be the next Willie Golalic.

[bb142ead]4.Long Beach - G Ted Matsumura, Northwestern[/bb142ead]
Long Beach may be tempted to go after one of the quarterbacks, but Matsumura's combine performance was legendary, and the opportunity to add a run-blocking force to pave the way for Don Terrell shan't be passed. With Matsumura's size and combine numbers he may even be able to switch outside to play tackle. On top of his excellent phyiscal attributes, Matsumura scored a 44 on the solecismic test and should develop quickly.

[bb142ead]5.New Orleans - DE Hunter Alcott, Wake Forest[/bb142ead]
Depending on what happens in front of them, the Horde will probably get a shot to pick up either Alcott or Matsumura. Alcott is the best prospect in a thin defensive line class, and is a great fit for New Orleans from a needs stand point. He should develop into a great all around end that excells in both run-stopping and pass-rushing.

[bb142ead]6.Anchorage - DT Wendell Fisk, Rice[/bb142ead]
Fisk is head, shoulders and belly button above the rest of the defensive tackles in this draft. Anchorage desperately needs a big run-stopper in the middle, and Fisk is just the man for the job. Anchorage could consider going a lot of different directions with this pick, but with the lack of talent in this year's DT class, they'd be very very fortunate to get Wendell Fisk with the sixth pick.

[bb142ead]7.Santa Cruz - QB J.J. Kaeding, Pitt[/bb142ead]
Kaeding is more of a protoypical quarterback prospect than Wells at 6-4, 234, but he is also quite a bit more raw. He is the best quarterback prospect out of Pitt since Dan Marino or at least Alex Van Pelt. (That's a Pitt joke.) Santa Cruz would be thrilled to get both Whitfield and Kaeding. Their future would suddenly be looking quite a bit brighter on both sides of the ball.

[bb142ead]8.Seattle - G D.J. Rodgers, Hawaii[/bb142ead]
Rodgers is a great offensive line prospect who should be able to contribute right away. With Seattle's cap problems, they may have to sign some scrubs to field a full 53 men, so getting someone that can make an immediate impact will be a priority. Rodgers would start from day one, and could be their best offensive lineman by the end of his rookie season.

[bb142ead]9.Chicago - WR Ryan Clark, Florida[/bb142ead]
Chicago would be wise to pick up a receiver to help out their new quarterback. Clark is the fastest guy in the draft and should develop quickly into one of the better receivers in the league. He is already better than any wide receiver the Hitmen have, and is my early pick for offensive rookie of the year next year (think Ernie Cooley a couple seasons ago.)

[bb142ead]10. Baltimore - RB Tyrone Rison, Oklahoma[/bb142ead]
Baltimore may be tempted to go for S Cornelius Drake in hopes of moving him to corner, but his 98 volatility and the riskiness of counting on a position switch may scare them off. Starting back Jonathan Sill is getting older and Rison, while something of a volatility risk himself, would bring blazing speed to an aging offense. Rison's 4.33 40 time makes him not just the fastest running back in the draft, but the fastest in the league.

Nice job, not used to seeing a Pitt joke that doesn't include Jackie Sherrill,
