[b574590d]11. El Paso - S Cornelius Drake, Indiana[/b574590d]
The Rockets would be quite happy to see Drake fall this far. Drake might be able to make the transition to corner, which has been a Rocket weakness in recent years, but with long time El Paso starting safety Albert Bennett out for the season, they could use his help at either spot. He will be the best player on the board and something of a steal at number 11.

[b574590d]12. Huntington Beach - WR Leroy Cox, Arkansas Pine Bluff[/b574590d]
Huntington Beach will reach a little bit at the twelvth spot and fill a big hole by taking receiver Leroy Cox. The H.B. defense was among the best in the league last year, and the running game was decent. Quarterback Clarence Lincoln is about to enter his prime, and adding the extra target could really open up the Capitalists' offense both now and in the future.

[b574590d]13. Atlantic City - OLB Roman Devine, Minnnesota St. - Mankato[/b574590d]
This pick fills a Phantom need with a guy that had a great combine. Devine is an athletic freak and is one of two players with over 25 reps in the strength test and under 7 seconds in the agility test (the other being S Grady Barlow.) As you would expect with those athletic credentials he can be solid in coverage and great in both run defense and rushing the passer. With established young stars on both sides of the ball in CB Willie Golalic and QB Colin Sawyer, Atlantic City could be a team to watch over the next couple of seasons. Devine would be a nice addition to that young nucleus.

[b574590d]14.Tampa Bay - QB Roderick Palmer, Arkansas Monticello[/b574590d]
Tampa's GM has expressed interest in bringing in a young QB. Palmer only knows 7 formations at this point, but would probably get a year or two to learn behind recently acquired veteran Josh Urrutia before being thrown into the fire. Tampa could consider going for a tackle or defensive end with this pick, but they appear to be poised for success, and it's rare you can draft a franchise quarterback with a pick in the bottom half of the draft, so they'd probably be best off to grab Palmer now.
[b574590d]
15.Sacramento - RB Marvin Raffo, Bucknell[/b574590d]
Raffo's high volatility (98 ) and low 40 time (4.62) could lead to him slipping a few spots. Sacramento would jump at the opportunity to fill their biggest hole with a guy that can start as a rookie. As I mentioned, Raffo doesn't have the breakaway speed, but he is elusive and a great receiver to help make up for that. With playing time Raffo should be close to fully developed by the end of his rookie season, and Alexis Round's days of being idolized in Sacramento would be numbered.

[b574590d]16.Honolulu - QB Carlton Burgess, Illinois[/b574590d]
With Ronnie Tu down for what looks like the count, Honolulu will likely look to draft his long-term replacement. Burgess will probably be the best QB on the board at this point. He has the potential to be nearly as good as the guys taken ahead of him, but he is much less developed at this point. Tu's services as a mentor could be used. The fall of the empire is complete. The rebuilding begins with this pick.

[b574590d]17. El Paso - CB Broderick Brandon, Florida[/b574590d]
Even though I'm writing this, I can't believe that Brandon could still be available at 17. If he's gone, Jeebs would probably go with DE Bernie Humphrey, but it'd be really hard to pass up Brandon in this spot. He's the top corner in the draft, finished third in the agility drill and still did 23 reps, which is amazing for a corner prospect. The Rockets would be very happy to get the combination of Drake and Brandon to help fix their defensive problems of the past couple seasons.

[b574590d]18. Memphis - S Emmanuel Beadnell, Fresno State[/b574590d]
The Express can fill a big hole with one of the most developed players left in the draft in Beadnell. He had a pretty good combine and should be one of the fastest developing players in the draft with a test score of 40. They could consider going with a receiver or offensive lineman, but none are as prepared to make an immediate contribution as Beadnell.

[b574590d]19. Detroit - WR Roderick Clark, Connecticut[/b574590d]
The Vampires will have to reach a bit to fill the most pressing need on their roster. Detroit desperately needs a wide receiver. Young QB Johnnie Titone is coming along nicely, but he needs someone aside from TE Brian Manos to throw it to. Parker had a good combine and should develop into a solid overall receiver that has the added dimension of being a true deep threat.

[b574590d]20. Las Vegas - CB Gus Shergalis, Georgia[/b574590d]
Vegas's otherwise solid defense has lacked top level talent at corner and suffered some for it. Shergalis would help fill really the only gap on a very talented defense. He has pretty great overall skills and is a great value for the twentieth pick in the draft. You really can't go wrong with a guy that runs a 4.32 (tied for second best in the class) and can do 16 reps.

Interesting.... I didn't intend to take a QB with this 1st, but if he's there at 1.14 that could change things...

I guess that's true if you have your head in the sand.

If gems can be had in the 5th they oughta be able to be had in the 1st.

Ya, but you have less qualms about taking a guy rated at 3.4 in the first then you do in the 5th
