This idea was mentioned during the live CFL Bowl chat last season, and I wanted to bring it up again. I think it would be a great way to start off the 2004 season.
The idea was that one of the games would be chosen as the "Game of the Week". On the night that the games are simmed, GE would sim the all of the games like he usually does, but instead of immediately posting the file, we would have a live chat and he would copy-and-paste the game log (line by line) for the "Game of the Week". The whole thing take about an hour but is lots of fun. Everyone on the chat gets to cheer for the team and players that it wants to, and it really helps you get to know some of the players on other teams. For example, I still remember how WR Roy dominated in the CFL Bowl for Oregon, while LB Sturgill seemed to be all over the field on defense, taking part in most tackles.
Some possibilities for week 1 "Game of the Week":
#13 Atlantic City Phantoms at #10 New York Empire - A division battle between New Jersey and New York
#2 Baltimore Bombers at #15 Tampa Bay Torpedos - Another division battle that matches up powerhouse Baltimore vs. the only team to go 4-0 during the preseason.
#9 Cleveland Flats at #8 Albany Engineers - Yet another divisional contest that includes the surprise team from last year's playoffs, Cleveland.
#20 Durham Bulldogs at #12 Charleston Sixpacks - Of course this is a division game as well, and it matches up North Carolina (go Fantasia!) vs. South Carolina.
#14 Las Vegas Crawfish at #11 Tucson Toros - Division game with two evenly matched teams. Plus we need to get The Afoci into the chat.
#17 Sacramento Dragons at #4 Huntington Beach Capitalists - Division game that should show how good Huntington Beach will be this year.
So what does everyone think of this idea, especially GE? Is this a possibility for week 1?
