Halfway through the 2010 season the Tulsa Talons lead the Cavalry division at a record of 6-2. Right behind them the Dynomite and Boxcars are each 5-3. Heading into the season the big news around Tulsa was how Butch Fulton was allowed to walk away free. 1 game into the season the fans had forgotten all about Butch. Marvin "Muddy Waters" Raffo opened the season with a record setting preformance and hasn't really slowed down since. He is currently leading the CFL in yardage with 886 yards in 8 games. He is also the leader in yards per carry at 5.2. A few spots behind him Butch Fulton is having a pretty good season as well with 802 yards, but his YPC is at a dismal 3.8.

On offense this year the team has been a run first team, leading the CFL in rushing yards per game. The passing game has been one of "don't screw it up." Donnie Lowe has passed for 1,567 yards which is a little on the low side, but he key stats are 14 TDs to only 4 INTs. The recieving this year has been one of a team effort, and no one really stepping up to take the spot of # 1 target. 6 players have more than 10 receptions, but only 2 have more than 20. The teams leading reciever is FB George Welton who is having a very solid year, as he always does. This is clearly a run first offense, and that might show in the offseason if the team decides to not spend any more money on recievers.

On defense the big news is Victon Ginn. Acquired in a trade from Boise before the draft Ginn has really stepped up his play and is on pace for over 120 tackles. Ginn has provided this group of LBs the spark they haven't seen since Nickolas Snodgrass was in his prime. The defense isn't flashy but they get the job done with allowing only 16.6 points a game, which is good enough to put them 10th in the league. The defensive backs are having an average season, they are really stepping up their play with defending passes, but their INT numbers are low this season. Desmond Ward, Damon Jankowski, and Floyd Bruce all have over 10 passes defensed already but between them they only have 2 INTs. If they are able to step up their interceptions this could be a very defense late in the season, and even into the playoffs.

Now for Doug's playoff predictions
In the east:
Shreveport to win the Deep South.
Detroit to win the Great Lakes.
Tampa Bay to win the Atlantic.
Hartford to win the Yankee.
Boston & Charleston look to be the two wildcard teams.

In the west:
Huntington Beach to win the San Andreas.
Seattle to win the Ring of Ice.
Honolulu to win the Ring of Fire.
Tulsa to win the Cavalry.
Denver & Tucson should be the wild card teams.

And the all important # 1 pick in the draft- looks like Las Vegas will be able to hold off Chicago & Cleveland and get the # 1 pick. Las Vegas is having a really bad year when it comes to injuries.
