The 2011 season was a down year for the Tulsa Talons. The team finished with a 6-9-1 record, while many had picked them to win the division before the season started. Statistically it was a down year for the Talons as well, but a few records were broken this season.
Career Records:
[b9401a87]FS Seymour Horgan [/b9401a87]moved above long time MLB Nickolas Snodgrass for career tackles and now holds the record at 638, [b9401a87]SS Desmond Ward [/b9401a87]also moved about Snodgrass and is now in 2nd place with 621 tackles.
[b9401a87]K Craig Schanding [/b9401a87] continued to be a dissapointment to the fans only making 77.4% of his field goals. However, he was able to make enough to become the all time FG leader on the team with 66, the old record was held by [b9401a87]K Joesph Dunford[/b9401a87] with 54.
Single Season Records:
[b9401a87]FB George Welton[/b9401a87] continued to show he is one of the best FBs in the CFL. He set the Talon's single season reception record with 84, the record had been held by [b9401a87]RB Butch Fulton[/b9401a87] with 80. Welton was also selected to his 4th All-Pro team this season.
[b9401a87]CB Cole Giles[/b9401a87], Giles took over the starting job in week 3 when Damon Jankowski went down with an injury. Giles was in only his second season with the team but proved he is the ball hawk type player the Talons thought he would be when they drafted him. Giles still has a lot of work to do, he takes to many chances as shown by the 34 passes caught on him.
Single Game Records:
[b9401a87]QB Donnie Lowe[/b9401a87] set 2 passing records against Las Vegas this year. He set the record for completed passes at 31, and he also set the record with yards in a game with 396. This game also tied the record for TD passes with 4.
[b9401a87]WR Donald Booker[/b9401a87] also had a big game that same week against Las Vegas, he racked up 177 yards. The previous record was by James Hoch for 152 yards. It is rumored that Booker is currently on the trade block even though he is coming off his best year statistically.
[b9401a87]OLB Victor Ginn[/b9401a87] was having a very good season before being knocked out with an injury. In week 11 against Denver Ginn was able to record 3 sacks, setting a team record. The previous record was 2.5 and shared by a few players. Ginn is entering his 14th season, but is hoping he can fully recover from his injury and return to the form he was in before his season was cut short.
