San Antonio, TX 11/3/06 Among the many smiles in San Antonio today two stood out above the rest, Head coach Terrance Story and new defensive coordinator Marlon Farmer. The reason? Howie Bernard. Marlon states the obvious in saying "This kid is a flat out stud. The CFL hasn't seen talent at this position in the draft since J.J. Houston hit the scene 4 years ago." San Antonio fans are already hyping these two the "Dynamic Duo". When comparing the combine numbers they stack up pretty comparable. They both had tremendous speed and agility numbers and Howie may be a bit stronger. Coach Story had no comment, the smile said it all. When asked about he felt the offseason was going, G.M. Shooter responded as follow. "Well I wasn't happy with last year's results. I thought we had a much better team than what showed up. Losing the all-time leading tackler in CFL history just made things a bit worse for us. Since then we have shored up the front line with the recent acquisition of Dean Burks and last year's 4th overall pick Toby O'Donnell has another year under his belt. All these guys are young and we should be set on the D-Line for many years to come. There going to be fun to watch this year and opposing quarterbacks better beware." It looks like the future just got a bit brighter in San Antonio. |
