[ia257f11][ba257f11]Here is the replay of the TurfToe interview that aired last night on the local affiliate, KLAS-Channel 8, in Las Vegas. Sal Rees sits down to discuss the draft and ends up on the ride commonly referred to as TurfToe's Wild Tangent Ride. Take a listen, enjoy the ride.[/ba257f11][/ia257f11]

Hi, this is Sal Rees sitting down with the Las Vegas Rounders GM, TurfToe. TurfToe was generous enough to allow us an exclusive interview to discuss the 2012 draft.

[ua257f11][ba257f11]Sal[/ba257f11][/ua257f11]: So let's get to it TurfToe, how do you think your draft went?

[ua257f11][ba257f11]TurfToe[/ba257f11][/ua257f11]: It went well Sal. I thought we selected the best talent available and talent that filled some holes for us. It was refreshing to see decent receiver talent towards the bottom of the first round for once. I was really tempted to get a linebacker to replace the hole left by Butler, but we really think Burt Lang can be a special player for us.

[ua257f11][ba257f11]Sal[/ba257f11][/ua257f11]: Speaking of Butler, what's the status of Richard Suavo's contract?

[ua257f11][ba257f11]TurfToe[/ba257f11][/ua257f11]: Rico is doing fine. He's still playing under the contract he brought over from Charleston and he's severely underpaid. I've talked to both him and his agent, Britt Samuels, before this season and tried to get something done. At his point in his career he deserves to be paid for his performance. It's just that my value of his performance last year was not in the same ballpark as their perceived value. We'll get this done. Richard "Rico" Suavo will be our starting middle linebacker to start the 2012 campaign.

[ua257f11][ba257f11]Sal[/ba257f11][/ua257f11]: Wow, that's far less creaming and yelling than I thought I'd get. Does the same hold true for Poole?

[ua257f11][ba257f11]TurfToe[/ba257f11][/ua257f11]: Fuck that punk! There's a lesson to be learned here for all of the young prima donnas in our league. I like to call it the "and" lesson. When you're a 13 year vet who is traded [ia257f11]and[/ia257f11] haven't gotten a deal worked out yet [ia257f11]and[/ia257f11] you have only 1 year left on that current bad deal [ia257f11]and[/ia257f11] you put up numbers worthy of a serious contract [ia257f11]and[/ia257f11] you can play in 16 games [ia257f11]and[/ia257f11] your agent's not a complete asshole, then you can hold out until a resolution is reached. Poole's on his second contract with us, he's not stuck with some deal that came over from another team as part of a trade. He has a contract from me that his agent negotiated for him! I heard the bitching and the moaning when he performed much better than his 5th round contract was bringing in, so I talked to his agent and asked what they would be looking for in renegotiation of that first deal. Guess what? I gave them precisely what they wanted, not a penny less

Yes, those boom players are only happy with their salary for so long. Fortunately, you got one that won't want an arm and a leg when he starts producing. Well, not compared to WR, CB, and DE anyway...

I suspect there was more going on in this interview than was reported.

Ding, ding, bonus point for Fonzie. I guess we know who is really reading the news clippings. Your gold star is in the mail.
