Post subject:  Talon's 2012 Preview

Changes are few and far between with starters on this years Talon's team. There are only 2 changes on offense- WR Charles Lindberg was let go, and is now playing in Cleveland, early reports have Ty Yanok as the new starter. Herb Daughtery will also see some playing time early in the year. The only other change is at TE. Long time starter Daniel Cone was let go as well, and is now starting along side Butch Fulton again over in Sacramento. Long time backup to Cone, William Wellins will finally get his chance to start for a full season. Kenneth Cyr was brought in via free agency to be his primary backup, and could move to the starting role if Wellins struggles early on. Also look for Muddy Waters Raffo to continue to improve his rushing numbers behind the great O-line.

On defense there were a few more changes:
DE Ralph Crank retired after one short season here in Tulsa, he put up 64 tackles and 6 sacks so we were glad to have him, and sad to see him go just as quickly. Kirk Anelli will step into the starting spot, he was a former first round pick who was only given one real season to show what he had. We are hopefull he can live up to the former hype. Rookie 2nd round pick Wayne Marshall will also see some playing time. At DT there will be a new big man anchoring the line. The days of Jessie Sherman / Donnell Hardy are quickly coming to an end. With the # 11 pick in the draft the Talon's draft big man Drew Hutchins. He will be the starter at LDT, while Stormin Norman Rogers will remain the starter at RDT. There is a lot of depth on the D-Line, so expect to see a lot of player seeing playing time here. The LB's and secondary remain the same. Damon Jankowski will be back from his injury, but expect to see Cole Giles on the field a lot again this year. Giles is entering his 3rd season, but had a breakout year last year. Expect to see Giles / Bruce as the shut down corners for years to come here in Tulsa.

This Talon's roster has the most depth ever seen in Tulsa, and with the core players starting to get close to retirement we are hoping to make a strong run this year, as it may be our last before a rebuilding period.
