Are you still planning on writing Behind the Player stories? Just checking...I was looking forward to them! |

Yes, I do plan on doing another one. Unfortunately, my time has been spent trying to destroy adware/spyware on my computer. I got a couple of really sticky parasites somehow. I haven't been able to download the league file and get all the info that I need to do the story. I hope to have one up before this Sunday's game. Sorry for the delay. P.S. Anybody know how to get rid of a parasite that keeps renaming the default on your web-browser? I tried quite a few programs including Spybot S&D, but these damn things just keep replicating themselves anytime I open Explorer. |

I would recommend using Mozilla Firefox for all your future browsing. You can download it here: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ I have never heard of anyone getting ANY spyware while using it instead of Internet Explorer. As for getting rid of what you've got, have you tried Ad-aware? |

I'd recommend Googling whatever sort of spyware is causing problems and throw in the search term "registry" as well. If you don't feel comfortable manually editing your registry you'll probably have to find some sort of advanced help, ie a spyware forum moderator. If you need further help feel free to post some more details as to what program is causing problems and I'll look further into it for you. I'm assuming it's some sort of generic search page as it's those types of spyware which mess around with your default IE home pages. |

Well, I'm at work now, so I can't tell you exactly what I have. I'll write it down tonight and post tomorrow morning. I have not tried Ad-aware, but I have tried other adware, perhaps I'll give this one a try, too. Thanks for the recommendations, guys. |

I ended up searching for that file on groups.google.com and found a registry hack for it... if you're seeing the same thing i would search for that... |

That's why the most populare combo of spyware utils is Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D. Funny thing, I just booted up my computer minutes ago and I have some stupid fucking searchbar right above my windows taskbar. Yay! |

I don't remember the exact name, but it's something like igtmi.dll loading from a res:// location. I think I'll go ahead and load adaware, also. Sounds like a good plan. Also, most of these hacks seem to go after IE, the Mozilla solution looks better and better as my patience wears thinner and thinner. |

Dammit! It looks like my computer at home is going down hard and fast. It seems like the more viruses that I remove, the more I get. I think that it may be time to go buy a new machine . . . it's 5 years old anyways, I may just be time to pull the plug on this one. It doesn't look like I'll be able to get the next "Behind the Player" up this weekend. Sorry. |
