Per the constitution: # Before the start of the previous season's playoffs, the Director shall create a thread in the CFL Forum entitled "Hall of Legends Nominations." # Any current owner, former owner, or fan may nominate any eligible player for nomination by posting a reply in the Hall of Legends Nominations thread. # The voting period shall begin at the start of the first free agency period and end at midnight EST before the training camp stage is simulated. # All votes shall be cast by secret ballot submitted to the Hall of Fame Director by Private Message (PM) on the CFL Forum. Only current team owners may vote and only one vote shall be cast per team. # To be inducted, a player must receive 20 votes from the Committee of the Whole, or 75% of votes cast (minimum of 20 votes cast). To make a nomination: Post the players name and a brief blurb about why they deserve to be in the Hall of Legends. It's also helpful if you post the unicode that will link to the player's page on the website: [ player ] [ /player ] without the spaces. As nominated by mistakes in the 2018 thread: [quote9bd7780="Doug5984"]As you said- no people that are first ballot HOFers [player]Douglas Hartman[/player] is good, but to me doe NOT get a nomination... And then what to do about a player like [player]Branden Eastman[/player], # 1 all time, but never once all-pro. How does the league feel about kickers... [player]Branden Lin[/player]- I'm a fan of his, put up some solid numbers, not great but he always had a good RB with him, very consistent with a career rating of 95.4 144 wins is damn good as well. [player]Ethan Capoccia[/player]- I don't know where he ranks among Cs for all time blocks and such, but he has to be near the top of the list. A great player, but again a position that doesn't really get the hype of others around him. [player]Tim Atkins[/player]- You get 1,200 tackles in 11 years as a starter and you have to be mentioned for the Hall of Legends. [player]Willie Golalic[/player]- Look at the #s, he gets my vote. [player]Alan Spearman[/player]- Same as Golalic, amazing numbers- short career, don't see how he doesn't get in. [player]George Welton[/player]- The best FB to ever play in the CFL, I'd like to put him up for vote again- I think he really should be in there. Just went through the transaction log, wanted to post some players to get some discussion going on them.[/quote9bd7780] and [quote9bd7780="JJ Smitty"][player]Kelvin Battle[/player] [color=blue9bd7780]don't forget him , he has the number's and the pro bowl's. Also, he finished his career with 37 straight games without giving up a sack. [b9bd7780]Stats;[/b9bd7780] 376 KRB - 1st for Guards, 5th in the league Overall, 1 Championship Pro Bowl's in 2010,11,13,15,16[/color9bd7780][/quote9bd7780] |

[color=blue8e57957]Anthony Jennings - RB[/color8e57957] Anthony Jenings was drafted by the Rounders and brought along slowly for the first two years, starting only 3 games. During that time he demonstrated a knack for returning kicks by returning 69 kicks for 1844 yards and 1 TD. Even after taking the Rounders RB starting job and toting the rock for 8 straight seasons, he continued to be the league's most dominating kick returner totalling 11,383 kick return yards on 391 returns (29.1 yard average) with 9 TD's. These would be amazing numbers for a dedicated kick returner and exceeds the next best returner by nearly 2,000 yards, except he has also accomplished the following as a starting RB: #22 Rushing Attempts #23 Rushing Yards #6 Rushing TD's #3 All-Time All-Purpose Yards (trails only RB greats Alan Spearman and Burt Liszkiewicz) Both of the RB's in front of him on the All-Time All-Purpose Yards list have over 4,000 yards receiving compared to Jennings' 787 yards. Jennings was a power runner who was not utilized in the Jackpot-centric vertical passing game. His numbers indicate that as a top-25 runner from a yards and attempt perspective, he was extremely efficient in scoring, ranking as the #6 rushing-TD scorer all-time. As a kick returner, he holds the following leaderboard spots: #1 Kick Returns #1 Kick Return Yards #1 Kick Return TD's Not only does Anthony Jennings deserve a spot in the Hall of Legends based on his ability as a kick returner, but he does so as a kick returner with significant contributions as a starting running back. He has set the bar for kick returners for generations to come. This bar may never be met. |

He should be joined by Oberg next season. I'm only left with one questions, why would anyone vote against Spearman? |

And how on earth did 44% of the voters conclude that Branden Lin was unworthy? That's a bunch of craziness right there. |

Fonzie was the only one making a case for Lin, equating a vote against Lin to be a vote for communism. It appears that we have 7 communists among us. Let the witch-hunt begin. Other than Jennings, there really weren't substantial arguments made for any player this year. I can take partial blame for that as I didn't get the voting out in the timely fashion that I usually do. This year was a down year in explanations and cases being made. There are also some amongst the population that buy into the first ballot thing. If they don't think the player is a "first ballot" HOLer, they'll vote no and possibly vote yes the following year. Just a few explanations. My thoughts were this: Golalic - Shoe-in Spearman - Shoe-in Lin - Shoe-in Atkins - Shoe-in Battle - Shoe-in Capoccia - Borderline Jennings - Borderline Eastman - No Chance Obviously, I'm also most surprised that Lin didn't make it. |

Yup, if Lin doesn't make it, I wonder what other QB will? Oberg? yeah, maybe. Goodwin? Of course. Anybody else? No, didn't think so... |

The HOL is dead to me. If we are just recreating what the game is doing - why bother? I have 3 retired players who qualify to be in the HOL and could be argued to be worthy. Of the three, the one I consider least worthy is the only one in. That speaks volumes, at least from my perspective. I have never cared for the whole first ballot thing either. If you are worthy, you get a yes vote. Period. If your numbers need to be dangled in the breeze a few more years then the vote should be no, check back in five years. Then again, I thought the whole point of waiting before being eligible was to give the career numbers some time to cook. First ballot or not is a crock, if you deserve to be honored you are in. If a player is that exceptional that even more fuss needs to be made over their excellence, just put a fez on his bust once enshrined if he really needs to be recognized as better than his HOF peers. I was sold on the HOL as it being different from the HOF in that it was to celebrate legendary players in the CFL both for searchable statistical value and other hard to capture characteristics. Bullshit. I have been very inactive in developing characters because I haven't had a player I consider HOL worthy with a hook for a story line. I don't want to waste everyone's time developing a character that dies out as soon as he retires. I also don't want to force a story line that doesn't exist naturally. It's a shame really, as this league needs more Motormouth's and Jackpot's. |

I think a lot of it is owner turnover, some of the new owners wont/didn't vote because they didn't know the player. We could make a veterans committee of the 10 longest serving owners and have them elect a certain # of players they feel deserve the Hall of Legends. |

I think that TT's current avatar explains a lot of the feeling about the HOL. |
