As the vogue pick coming out of the EFC in 2020, the Shreveport Pride had some minor business to attend to in the 2020 draft. A roster ready for a big run was shored up with some impact players leading up to the draft with only backup positions to be filled by rookies hoping to contribute to a championship run. [b317d108]3.30[/b317d108] RDT - Rick Alcott Oklahoma 6'3" 313 [img317d108]http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/08V ... S/340x.jpg[/img317d108] If you want a big boy, go to the Big 12. While Alcott's 6'3", 313 lb. frame suggests he might be a LDT at the pro level, the scouting report identifies him as a near-guarantee to be a successful run stuffing lineman in the CFL. His pash rush technique is also highly touted, especially at his size. Much of that technique is due to his quickness, which at 4.99 in the 40 might make some smaller running backs nervous when they hear the hooves on slow developing plays to the outside. If you have a hole to fill, go with the fast fat guy. [b317d108]4.29[/b317d108] QB - C.J. Beede Rutgers 6'2" 216 [img317d108]http://photos.lehighvalleylive.com/phot ... 32be66.jpg[/img317d108] Shreveport did not need a QB in this draft necesarily, but there was something about Beede that prompted his selection in the fourth round. We're guessing that something might have been Beede's ability to convert on 3rd downs, his excellent timing, his abilty to read defenses and sense the rush, or it could have been his football IQ or his play-saving mobility. [b317d108]5.28[/b317d108] TE - T.J. Johnstone Georgia 6'3" 250 [img317d108]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SO8Y3MIsoP8/R ... d+pope.jpg[/img317d108] Shreveport took a stab at a TE in this spot in hopes of capitalizing on Johnstone's blocking abilities. Not only is Johnstone a proven run blocker with tremendous strength, he is a technical route runner that can be a QB's saving grace. T.J. can also adjust to the ball with the best of them as well as contribute on special teams - both on kick coverages and as a long snapper. T.J. packs a lot of value in a single roster spot. [b317d108]6.27[/b317d108] FS - A.J. Hatcher Temple 5'10" 207 [img317d108]http://blog.mlive.com/broncos_impact/20 ... ge_lou.jpg[/img317d108] R.J. Hawk seems to have something for guys with abbreviations for first names. First C.J., then T.J., and now A.J. This abbreviated first-namer might just start immediately for this contender. While that starting spot may be in the nickel or dime role, it's a starting spot nonetheless. Hatcher's well-rounded cover skills matched with his ball hawking ability may land him in a dream spot on this contender's 53-man roster. Hatcher led his team in interceptions for three years and is #2 on Temple's all-time interceptions leader board. [b317d108]7.30[/b317d108] RB - Raymond Sinclair Notre Dame 5'11" 212 [img317d108]http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0a5 ... Q/610x.jpg[/img317d108] Shit happens in the CFL draft and the only stain on Shreveport's 2020 draft effort was RB Raymond Sinclair. Sinclair couldn't even be Mr. Irrelevant, finishing 3rd in the Mr. Irrelevant voting by being selected at the 7.30 spot. As a Golden Domer, Sinclair relied on his breakaway speed to get him out of jams that his questionable football IQ got him into. He seemed to have decent power when running between the tackles and he is very developed for his age. The question remains as to whether Sinclair can develop pro skills to complement some of his marginal-at-best physical talent and make this squad. This may be one of the only question marks in Shreveport's 2020 campaign. |

[quote4a07b56="TurfToe"]As the [b4a07b56][i4a07b56]vogue [/i4a07b56][/b4a07b56]pick coming out of the EFC in 2020, the Shreveport Pride had some minor business to attend to in the 2020 draft. [/quote4a07b56] I agree with fff - very nice. That said, only a fashion magazine would pick the Shreveport to win he EFC in 2020. |

OK, sorry I missed this TT. Work's been a beeatch. Thanks for the write-up. I was laughing that you noticed supposed lure I had towards initialed first names. Although, I have good reason as R.J. is our best off-season acquisition. Weighing in at only 6lbs, 9oz. R.J. has had the most impact on the GM for the Pride. I've been waiting to get a picture of him next to a Shreveport Mini-helm, but hey, what the hell! At least in the pic, he's got a lion on his outfit: [img6ce7194]http://home.comcast.net/~ssecora/RJ6.jpg[/img6ce7194] Born 2/1/09, it may be a few years before he can start contributing. Definitely a development project for GM/Coach. RJ has been placed with my wife and I for adoption (domestic). If everything goes smoothly, the adoption will be finalized August-September. |

Congrats Raven Hawk! Looks to only be about 1% developed right now. Lots of patience and daily training camps are going to be needed for him. I'd also recommed that he gets on a weight gain program. |
