I have made three picks and I am exicted about each player who is coming into the Express this season. The first is [b7ac77f1]G Hunter Mills[/b7ac77f1]. Mills is going to provide the weak offensive line a much needed boost. He will start right away. I feel like he was a good pick at 20th spot. The second player I picked up was in the 3rd round with the fith pick. That is [b7ac77f1]S Craig Davidson[/b7ac77f1] from Texas. I really think Davison was a steal. The erarly focus was put on CB's and it left some good S's for the taken. He will compete with Norman Bunker for a starting spot. The third player I got with the 3rd round 20th pick was [b7ac77f1]ILB Cory Marshall [/b7ac77f1] from Iona. I think he will give us depth in the linebacker corps and help us build for the future in that area. I think we have done well so far. |

As for my draft, I'm happy with Elway, but I probably reached in the running back and full back I took, though I think it could end up being worth it if Prior can put up some decent recieving numbers out of the backfield, and Offutt could be worth it if he can handle the short yardage plays. I don't necesarrily like the idea of drafting players this early for mostly third and long and third and short, but looking at my roster I think it was something I needed to do. As far as Mattes, I'm hoping to take advantage of having a mentor and develop him into a backup for the day when Martinez is no long around. |

Hmm...picked only 2 players so far, [bb07f622]Mark Blair [/bb07f622]a guard who could be a stud but not necessarily in a position I needed. Plus he cost me my 1st and 2nd rounder... WR [bb07f622]Seth Field[/bb07f622], him I badly needed because my receiving corps sucks so much...He was however far from my first choice, as he seems to have a pretty big case of the dropsies... So overall, just a C-. |

I would have to give myself a B+ so far. I've gotten players that I didn't expect would be there. 1.1: [ba068081]Jerald Barber (DT)[/ba068081] - Shores up the defensive line for me by creating havok in the middle, which I sorely needed last season. Easy for me to pick with the #1 overall. I was considering grabbing Sanderson, but I have couple of young CB's that could pan out yet. 2.11: [ba068081]Percy Cherpenski (G)[/ba068081] - Percy will be a project as I have two guards capbale of starting. One of them is a veteran and on his last year of his contract. Percy will probably be moved to LG and spend a season backing up my starters. If he progresses well, he'll start for the Pride in 2006. This will help fill the void left by Paris Johnson. 3.11: [ba068081]Mack Ramirez (WR)[/ba068081] - Mack is not your prototypical SE. He won't get me many big plays, but he's got good hands and doesnt' fumble. Mack was the #3 WR on my board behind Schwartz and Arnie Pritchett. Considering that I need a lot of help at WR, I thought that Mack was a steal in the third round. This pick was further justified when my other WR target (who I was hoping to pick in round 5), Deron Stahl, went to Seattle in the late third round. Mack will be starting at SE this season. |

Got help for the d-line with first rounder Billy Hopper (DE) who will be given every opportunity to start. CB Rico Turnbull wasn't a great pickup in the 2nd round, but I was very happy to grab WR Tyrone Pritchett in the third round - I didn't think he'd last that long. I give myself a C+ so far. |

1(17) CB Minahan shored up my defensive backfield, which I feel much better about now. 2(17) RB Tito Sanders fills a need position, and will hopefully evolve into a starter. Plus, it never hurts to have a guy named "Tito" on your team. 3(17) WR Leo Parker fills another need position - I'm hopeful that we got a steal in him, as I really like his receiving skills. Overall I'd give this draft a B+ so far. |

1.4 QB Dustin Hayes has the potential to be a spectacular QB and he was just too much to pass up. He'll have plenty of time to develop behind Ernest Lorenzo, and having Owen Rakes as a mentor should help him as well. While this pick doesn't solve any immediate needs, I think it will pay dividends in the future. 2.4 CB Harris Ivans was a need pick, though he won't help immediately. With all the great up and coming QB's in the NC East good corners are at a premium. I have a couple of other young corners, but I think that Harris can be better than both of them and develop into a very good cover corner. 3.4 LT Dana Thiele was another pick to fill a gaping hole, though once again he won't be starting for a while. He has the potential to be a decent tackle on a team that didn't have a LT on the roster. I would probably have to give myself a solid B thus far in the draft, based primarily on the potentials shown by Hayes and Ivans... |

Not real excited about my draft so far, unlike last season. So maybe things will turn out better this year. I went with all needs, as the best player available didn't match up with the holes in my lineup. For example, I realy liked all the safties in the second round, but I already have three starting calibur players there. Going into the draft, I had one TE and one DT on my roster so my two second round picks will play important roles this season. I hope the TE will develop into a starter because my current guy is pricey. Guess I'd give myself a C. |

From those who have posted thus far, I have to say that I liked Tucson's picks alot. If my needs were different, I'm sure that my draft would have looked similar to his. All his guys were high on my draft board. Good job so far, Fonzie. |

I'm happy with my draft so far, even with just one pick. It filled a need spot (tackle) as well as satisfy me enough in the "best available" territory (Schwarz is an outstanding talent but I'm not a big fan of expensive wideouts, both Elway and Bullock filled need and have talent). |

I'm fairly happy with my draft as I think it's filled my biggest needs. CB Vince Flowers was probably a small reach after the best of the CB class was already drafted, but I desperately needed talent at cornerback and he should be a solid, if unspectacular starter there. DE Gary Keith gives me a needed run stopper at LDE, I'm not too worry about pass rushing from my DEs since I use a 3-4. And SLB Oscar Quinn gives me some depth in my linebacking corps and could start one day. I don't think I got any big time players, but three guys so far who can fill needed roles on my team. |

My first priority in this draft's been to fill the positions where I most needed someone who'd develop into a starter fairly rapidly. Being so low in the draft order for most rounds, I didn't get the players I'd had my eye on, but I think I still did well. [b14eee94]S Edgar Raymond[/b14eee94]. I most needed a safety, and I think Raymond's a great pick. With his current level of skill, he's already going to be my backup, and will probably get some starts in the exhibition season, if not regular season, too. [b14eee94]CB Grant Brock[/b14eee94]. He wasn't my first choice for cornerback, but still a solid pick. With his current skills, he fits in well to my current group of backups, and hopefully will develop fairly quickly. [b14eee94]T Gerald Wooden[/b14eee94]. Again, not my top pick to fill the position, but I think he still has the makings of a future starter. Overall, I'd give myself a C+ for the draft so far; not too bad for coming in in the middle of the draft as a new owner.
