| Post subject: | New Owner In Tampa B |
hey, guys, my name's glen. i'm a longtime sports sim dude, relative newcomer to FOF. in a couple other leagues. what i'm looking for is a well-established league with a core of active owners and a high degree of competitiveness. this league looks to have all those things. if you'll have me and TB is still open, i'd love to give it a shot--and this way i can spare you the ignominy of having an AI-managed team make the playoffs. let me know at my e-mail address-- scooterfan@sbcglobal.net--or post in here and i'll check back in a bit. thanks! |

Welcome to the CFL! Yor team will move to St Louis (the previous owner's last move) so you may want to start thinking about a new team name. Or else let TurfToe come up with something, but you may not like the result very much... |

some ideas from a previous thread where we were discussing this: [quotee0bcce5]Since the St Louis the town was named after a French King, we should go medieval. Knights has always been my favorite, but they've already been used once in the CFL in New York. You could also go with St Louis Kings, or Crusaders. Other options could be Brewers (STL was home to Anheiser Busch breweries), Gateways, Archers,...[/quotee0bcce5] |

thanks for the material--i'll work on a name. makes you wonder why a guy goes to the trouble of moving and then bails. stuff happens, i guess. the more i look the cooler i think the league is. long-running leagues with active owners are surprisingly rare. or, maybe more accurate to say openings in same are rare. and the more i look at my team, the more i like it. that said, no team i've ever managed has led the league in defense--i find myself wanting to blitz every down, with mixed results--which appears to be the team's main strength. after i subtract my value, look out in a tough EFC!!! the schedule seems reasonably friendly, but alot could rest on the week 15 sunday night game in charleston. |

the new chuck d? damn, that's a bad-ass tag! for the record, i spent a large portion of my high school years with a clock around my neck (took the band off my swatch watch and put it on one of those chains old ladies use to hold their glasses on) in homage to another PE frontman. let me tell you from experience, that's a tough look for a scrawny white dude to pull off on the south side of stockton!!!!! but gotta give 'em their props--night of the living baseheads wasn't so much a song as a lifestyle choice in my neighborhood. how 'phisticated? so-phisticated! fight the power, open letter to the NY post, by the time i get to arizona, 911 is a joke, etc. those were some bad jams. |

Welcome to the league, and I must say that Flavor Flav was the main reason I watched the old MTV Rock 'N Jock Basketball specials they used to have. |

[quote9fad0c2="scooterfan"]thanks for the material--i'll work on a name. makes you wonder why a guy goes to the trouble of moving and then bails. stuff happens, i guess. [/quote9fad0c2] If by 'stuff' you mean 'the previous owner was a spineless pussy' then yes, stuff happens. BTW, I can't wait for the naming thread to start. I'm going to go prime the ole TT Team Naming Machine with a liter of Captain and a quart or two of tequila. It's been awhile since the wheels spun up and that baby so we may have to splash in some vodka for extra measure - wouldn't want it to seize up on us... |

[quote71dd16f="thater"]. . . I must say that Flavor Flav was the main reason I watched the old MTV Rock 'N Jock Basketball specials they used to have.[/quote71dd16f] does it fall under the heading of "too much information" to say that flavor flav was my idol as a teenager? prolly you wouldn't let me in the league--too late now, i already submitted a game plan!!!! it's just all about making goofs. socially aware goofs. setting aside the drug addiction and wife beating, of course. and yeah, TT, i figured there had to be some kind of story about the previous dude bailing, because you don't leave a team loaded with young players, a legit QB, the best DE i've ever seen, *and* planning a move to a new city. |
