[b76157a6]Fonzie's Super-Fun Quick-Hit Recap-a-Thon[/b76157a6] Norm Doman kicked four field goals, the Toros backfield ran for 220 yards, and their defense held Boise to 176 total yards in a 26-6 Tucson win. Shreveport scored the first 14 points of the game, and the last 14 points in the game. That's pretty good, but unfortunately for the Pride New Orleans scored 31 points in between. A tight, 14-10 Santa Cruz halftime lead turned into a route courtesy of 24 unanswered second half points. Tulsa kept it a game for the first three quarters, but just didn't have the horses to stay with the undefeated Privateers. As with Tulsa, Texas made a game of it for a while before finally succumbing to Huntington Beach's offensive juggernaut 23-10. Curiously, the Wolfpack's juggernaut racked up 439 yards, but Bert Foster failed to throw for any TDs and instead tossed two picks. Still, he ran for a TD and that was enough to secure POG honors. Chicago outgained Brooklyn 379-355, but couldn't overcome their self-inflicted wounds and fell 31-21. Two key turnovers and a couple of missed field goals doomed the Soldiers, and the Brawlers capitalized. Atlantic City took a 16-10 lead into halftime, but their offense fizzled in the second half allowing Albany to steal a 20-16 road win. The Phantoms' offensive woes left them with just 200 yards on the day. Albany's 270 yards weren't much better, but they avoided the killer mistakes and did slightly better in the red zone. When a 5-2 team plays host to an 0-6 team you might expect them to end the day 6-2 and 0-7 respectively. In the case of Anchorage and Oregon, you'd expect right. Anchorage got an 86-yd punt return TD gift, but that was about all that went right for them in a 41-14 drubbing. Fun stat: Anchorage's average starting field position was their own 19; Oregon's was at their own 46. Durham fans are rejoicing at Omaha's red zone problems (just 1 TD in 5 trips), as that is all that kept this game from ending up 107-10. As it stands, the five Omaha field goals were enough secure a 22-10 win. The yardage differential tells the real story though: Omaha won that battle 434-152. Ouch. CJ Hicks caught 9 passes for 177 yards and 2 TDs to secure POG honors in Boston's 31-17 win over Hartford. His 177 yards represented 66% of Boston's 266 total yards. Perhaps the real story, though, was Boston's capitalization on four Hartford turnovers. They returned both a fumble and a pick for TDs today, which would make the difference in this one. Honolulu looked to be in control of this one, leading Arizona 20-6 at halftime. There is, however, a reason why they bother playing the second half of these games. Arizona's sputtering offense (just 1 TD in 6 Red Zone trips) put together enough in the second half to shock the Blue Pacific 23-20. Honolulu's second half drive chart looked like this: fumble (at own 23), punt, punt, interception, punt, punt, punt, interception. Toros management has offered to send Rounders management to some free seminars on "tanking football games properly". The supposedly rebuilding Vegas squad is now 6-2 after topping Seattle 40-22 and racking up 476 yards of offense. *sigh* Shane Hall continued last week's heroics by throwing for 303 yards and 3 TDs in leading Detroit over Cleveland 27-8. Will this be a high water mark in the Vampire's season? Or is it a turning point that will see Hall recapture the glory years? If a 1-5 team travels to play an 0-6 team in the forest, would anybody notice? I guess somebody did, 'cuz there's this box score that says Denver beat Death Valley 31-15. Good for them. San Antonio's 17-9 win over St. Louis probably would've been even more impressive had they not committed 14 penalties for 116 yards. And stuff. |

Maybe I should rig their team bus. dont know if beating me is really an accomplishment atm, anyway grats denver.

We won this week despite ourselves. This game should not have been this close as we continuously gave up field position and key first downs due to penalties. Just glad we were playing St. Louis this week rather than one of our division rivals. When needed thought the defense came up big as we did a great job in shutting down the opposing offense to keep us in the game. |

We are on a win streak of 2 games after a 0-5 start. With only 2 wins we are a game back for the division lead. Boom! |

My running back needed 14 carries to amass -1 yards. That has to be the absolute worst game a running back could have. And he fumbled. Fourteen carries. Minus one yard. For real. In the snow... But still. Anyway, usual M.O. for the Bees. Hicks, secondary play, turnovers, Prescott. Huge win over another quality Yankee Division team, Hartford, who I give some of the credit for stuffing Hogue all game long. Fortunate win. Also good to beat Provance because it would have sucked extra bad to lose to the guy you decided not to sign after he won a Bowl for you. |
