A score of 10-9 might make for an exciting, interesting, offense-heavy baseball game, but in football? Not so much. Still, Baltimore wound up with the 10 and New Orleans the 9, so good for the Barbarians.

Durham managed a 38-9 blowout win over St. Louis, despite gaining just 279 total yards. They benefited from some very short fields thanks to three Torpedoes turnovers (average starting field position: own 43), and were 3 for 3 in Red Zone TD conversions. Derrick Banner relived some of his glory days with a 3 TD effort.

Carl Bradford threw 3 first half TD passes to give Shreveport a 21-3 halftime lead. They coasted from that point to a 21-13 win over Tennessee.

El Paso and Texas battled to a 10-10 tie at the half, but the Rockets "took off" (get it? get it? *looks around for a high-five*) in the second half to secure a 30-10 victory. Wendell Mathews was the star of the show, passing for 220 yards and 2 TDs.

Hartford gained 352 total yards to Atlantic City's 358, so one might've expected this to be a close game. Of course, with that kind of lead in you can probably guess which way this write up is going to go. Hartford made the best use of those yards, capitalizing on an average starting field position of the Phantoms' 48 (compared with ACI's starting position of their own 20). Hartford 37, Atlantic City 10.

Boston fans renewed their love affair with CJ Hicks, who accounted for both of the Bees' TDs today in a 17-14 win over Albany. His 6 catches for 107 yards accounted for more than half of George Prescott's 190 passing yards. Boston now boasts a gaudy 8-1 record!

The first two scores went Death Valley's way today, courtesy of a safety and a short field goal. But Santa Cruz would score 21 unanswered points to lock up a 21-5 win. Blaine Barrett threw for 2 TDs, and Tito Zapisek returned a punt 80 yds for a score to ice this one. SCU is also 8-1.

In a matchup that only agents could love, the 1-6 Anchorage Anchors went to Arizona to face 1-6 Arizona. Anchorage got two huge plays to win this one: Eugene Rose returned a Kent Garrison pick 86 yds for a TD, and Peter Fletcher caught a 76 yarder from Donnell Fields for another score. Anchorage 30, Arizona 17.

Both Tulsa and Fargo posted 340+ yards of offense, so one might have expected a score greater than 16-10. Penalties, turnovers, and an in ability to work into the Red Zone (three trips between the two teams - and no TDs) kept this one a low scoring affair. Affair. That's a funny word, affair. Try saying it three times fast. Affair affair affair. Heh. Dear lord, I'm tired.

Brooklyn beat the snot out of Cleveland 29-6, but they did the de-snotting primarily with Tyrus Wooden's leg. The kicker made five field goals and two extra points today.

Can anybody figure out what's going on in the RoF? Honolulu stormed back into the division race with a 34-17 win over Las Vegas. MoMo was again on the bench nursing an injury, and Gerald Becker was unable to match Marcus Hanks' 216 yds and 2 TDs.

Boise snagged a 24-7 win over Seattle, one that Hunter Walker would very much like to forget. Seattle outgained Boise 430-262, but the Spartans threw five interceptions and lost a fumble to destroy any hope of staying in the game. Mr. Walker threw four of those picks before being benched.

Huntington Beach has been reeling from some key injuries, and it showed in their 14-6 home loss to Denver. Foster wasn't in sync with his receivers, and the Wolfpack gained just 238 total yards. The Dynomite were able to score TDs where the Wolfpack could only get FGs.

Detroit is enjoying an impressive three game winning streak after today's convincing 23-10 win over Chicago. It's like old times for Shane Hall (244 yards, 1 TD), but the hero of today's game was Ike Reed. The Vampires' DE notched 2.5 sacks, 3 hurries, 4 knockdowns, and forced a fumble.

GG Meat. I thought we blew any chance at this one with 2 INTs in the end zone, but we eked out a 10-9 win with a late FG.

Figured I would just let Rex take over for me this game as I can't seem to get a consistent effort from the team.

Result - A win and finally back to .500

GG TT. Don't call it a comeback...

GG Stretch,

The only way we win is field position. Our punter put the ball on the 1 yard line 2x. Makes for a long field. Ugly ball gets it done.

With MoMo on the shelf for awhile we are hoping to get back to a respectable draft slot before the season ends. Admittedly, I didn't do much besides hit the recommend button for most of this one and it was obvious. The first part of our season was likely smoke and mirrors on the game planning screens but I just keep telling myself that so I feel like I serve a purpose around here.

GG CC
