The draft clock has begun! Just a reminder about draft times:

In the first round, each team has a four (4) hour time limit to make a selection. In the second round there is a three (3) hour limit. In the third and fourth rounds there is a two (2) hour time limit. In the fifth, sixth, and seventh rounds, there is a one (1) hour time limit. Any team missing a pick will have their time limits set to a 15 minutes for each pick thereafter. Teams will only be "on the clock" during official draft hours, from 8:00 a.m. EST to Midnight.

All, I am mobile today so not sure if I'll be able to make a pick by 6:00 p.m if my pick comes up. Sorry!

ACI chose OLB Stoner (I hope there is no drug testing in the CFL!) with pick 1-2. We would have been happy with Wolfe or Stoner. OLB was a huge need so we are very happy with the pick.

Of the early picks so far my "best value" awards go to Arizona for their #3 pick of WR Emmitt Upshaw and Detroit at #6 for QB Isaac Burgess.

Not looking forward to having to defend against Burgess for the next ten years.

Okay, I'll be the one to fall on the grenade and say it - we gotta do something to speed the draft up. At this point we may be finished with the 2nd round by the end of Day 3... maybe. At the rate things are going, we're not likely to finish until Thursday or Friday, several days behind schedule even after allowing for the extra day due to the delay in getting the conscriptor set up. It took the full first day of the draft to get through just eleven picks - that's ridiculous.

I thought the pacing was pretty good today..

Remember, our league is kinda chill and we run things slowly..

We all have lives outside the league and I for one like the relaxed nature..

With pick 2-1, Atlantic City chose ILB Zack Koethe. DE Grant Rosas and CB Calvin Baxter were both considered. With current MLB Darnell Lyon in his 9th year, we decided to grab a future replacement. The Phantoms defense continues to get stronger.

Look for ACI to look for some offensive help with pick 3-1 and 3-2.

With our first and second round picks we tried to address a dire need at the offensive tackle position. After having no success in negotiations, we lost our starting left tackle in free agency. We're hoping that one of the two guys we are bringing in can be the answer at LT and the other provide some depth. We don't expect to get graded very well by the pundits, but at least our franchise QB feels a bit better today.

I'm playing the role of the crazy draft guy this year. After 25 CFL drafts with a combined wait time of about 3 hours total, I easily surpassed that in just two picks this year. My bad. Part of the issue has been computer/Internet issues so it leads ot the other aspect of "crazy draft guy" mode in which I am picking from thin air. I feel naked without game access or analyzer handy, so with the aid of two ne'erdowells and my uploaded extractor data, I am selecting guys I likely wouldn't have selected otherwise.

It's not all that fun either...

In the 3rd round, Atlantic City finally made a couple picks on the offensive side of the ball. However, both players appear to be projects.

With 3-1, ACI chose QB Todd Nelson. At 3-2, the Phantoms selected WR Bryant Corbett. There will be a full write-up on the Phantoms draft in a few days.
