2032 Las Vegas Draft Recap and Training Camp Media Guide 1.05 LDE Tom Harvey Buffalo 6'0" 267lbs. ![]() Harvey impressed Vegas' scouts and impressed everyone at the combine. Harvey's numbers made most people overlook his height, which may be a concern. Vegas thought about QB Farr and OLB Holliday at 1.05 but Farr's lack of combine numbers and the relatively lower ROI from an outside LB steered Vegas' hand in this one. TufrfToe stated, "We have always received good value at the defensive end position. The other guys merited the selection but we weren't expecting to see Harvey there at five - we just couldn't pass him up." Pre-Camp: 38/70 Post-Camp: 43/72 (+5/+2) Underrated -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.09 QB Pat Springer Wyoming 5'10" 208lbs. ![]() Springer was not expected to be available at Vegas' second round pick where pundits expected Vegas to make a pick in the secondary. Some wonder if Liszkiewicz Jr. has been put on notice as there seems to be a nice QB controversy brewing before camp even starts. Pre-Camp: 11/64 Post-Camp: 16/58 (+5/-6) I hate QB's Very Underrated ------------------------------------------------------------ 3.08 RB Mack Arnold Kentucky 5'10" 209lbs. ![]() Arnold was one of many running backs that seemed to promise significant value deep into the 2032 draft. Arnold's blocking ability and third down catching caught TurfToe's eye and brought Arnold into the fold of a backfield with a talented mentor (Hutchins) and may push second year back Van Engelen, who struggled picking up the blitz and catching the ball out of the backfield in his rookie year. Arnold's well developed and TurfToe mentioned him by name when discussing players that may only need some work in the weight room to be ready come Week 1. Pre-Camp: 40/45 Post-Camp: 41/44 (+1/-1) Not Interviewed --------------------------------------------------------------- 4.07 MLB Broderick Fregoso Muskingum 5'10" 236lbs. ![]() Yes, the talented LB from Muskingum. Not exactly what came to mind first when Fregoso's name was called at the combine but this athlete has a lot of potential with some solid line backing skills. His special team's play almost guarantees a spot on a CFL roster somewhere. Fregoso qualifies as a typical Vegas "crazy linebacker" pick with a motor that never quits and often over-revs. Pre-Camp: 25/60 Post-Camp: 28/53 (+3/-7) Not Interviewed ----------------------------------------------------------------- 5.06 FS Blake Giles Michigan 6'0" 200lbs. ![]() Giles was drafted as a run stuffing safety. Even as a situational player, Giles offers a nose for reading the run that is sorely needed in Vegas. Giles blew away the combine with an amazing showing in the agility drills. His speed and football intelligence also contributed to many teams requesting interviews at the combine. Vegas was not one of those teams but reached early in the fifth round to make him a Rounder. Pre-Camp: 15/41 Post-Camp: 21/45 (+6/+4) w00t! Not Interviewed ---------------------------------------------------------------- 6.05 SLB Corey Hodges Michigan State 6'2" 242lbs. ![]() Hodges was a tackling machine at the outside linebacker for the Spartans. His pass rush skills also contributed to the Spartans' sack record for 2031. Fregoso is borderline psychotic but Hodges makes Fregoso seem passive. If Fregoso was Vegas crazy linebacker pick, we're guessing Hodges is the team whack job pick. Hodges is another special team performer, although not at the same level of Fregoso. We expect fireworks on almost any special team play this year if Hodges and Fregoso both make the team and share the field on special team's plays this year. Pre-Camp: 19/49 Post-Camp: 23/45 (+4/-4) Not Interviewed ----------------------------------------------------- 7.09 RG Shaun Ethridge Georgia Tech 6'4" 325lbs. ![]() Ethridge's combine numbers caught the eye of someone in Vegas. His bench and 40 times indicate a tremendous athlete in a big body. We're not sure if Ethridge can make the cut but his track record seems ot indicate he'll give Vegas every effort trying to make the squad. Pre-Camp: 19/48 Post-Camp: 23/48 (+4/0) Not Interviewed |

For the first time in a few years, we came out looking good in training camp. The Farr to Hartman connection should be a force in the coming years and it will be fun for these two to grow up together. The risk of Farr paid off as his accuracy increased and looks like it may creep. Offensively, we had a good camp. QB - Gary Farr went up +9 / +2 WR - Toby Hartman went up +4 / +5 RB - Anthony Adamo +4 / +4 LG - Pat Keevil +3 / +5 Most of the other draft picks look like the typical training camp. Overall, the future looks bright in San Antonio. |

Not bad, hoping the first rounder trends up higher. The fourth rounder was picked to play (and moved) to linebacker and hoping he trends up also. 1.23 Luther Watkins RCB (28/46) (34/52) (6/6) 2.24 Irv Lance RT (29/55) (32/52) (3/-3) 3.23 Edward Lightner SILB (26/59) (29/56) (3/-3) 4.24 Spencer Mulhollon SLB (17/29) (8/31) (-9/2) 5.23 Courtney Johnson RCB (23/47) (25/42) (2/-5) 6.24 Darren Kaplan RCB (21/45) (24/40) (3/-5) 7.23 Clay Garmon WLB (14/40) (19/40) (5/0) |

1.29 - WR Darrell Brandon - +5/+8 I was surprised that he was still there, and it looks like he's very underrated, though he'll probably never be a great route runner. Still a good value. 2.28 - OLB Chad Dromehauser - +2/-7 Very dissappointing camp. He'll still be a good run-stopper and he may be a little underrated in coverage. 3.27 - RB Freddie Wilson - +1/-2 I'm pretty sure I missed this pick. He could be an OK backup, though. 4.29 - DT Brock Harpold - +7/-2 This guy looks like a pretty good value and held up better than I figured in camp. I'd probably move him to DE to take advantage of his PRT, but we're so thin at DT we might need him to start there instead. 5.28 - WR Darrell Brandon - +4/+4 Pretty happy with this one as well. He should be a good vertical threat and is probably underrated in terms of getting downfield. 6.27 - RB Cory Givens - +4/0 Bad endurance, but he looks underrated at hole recognition with good speed and elusiveness. 7.29 - DT Malcolm Watkins - +5/0 This guy is huge and should be good against the run. It was a great camp for our rookies on the whole, but we took some big vet hits. |

RB,Las Vegas: You need to put that fine writeup in the News section. I love the shots of the players. Rick I think I was being lazy. I meant to do a draft recap and wanted to capture TC results, so that's where it ended up. I used to do these annually and I'm suffering from comittalphobia, as I simply have no free time right now. If I post it in the news, it will commit me to returning to my old habits. Once I finish my MBA and get through baseball season later this summer, I plan to make a splash with the reinvention of TurfToe, CFL style. Or not. |
