Another year, another tough Hartford team makes the CFL bowl; seems like we should be expecting this by now, but this year does red hot Tucson finally have what it takes to unseat the three time champs?

History would be on the Hartford’s side on this one. In the last four years Hartford has only lost to one non-conference opponent, Seattle. Including Bowl games that makes Hartford 21-1 in inter-conference play, including a 34 – 17 win in their last contest with Tucson.

This year, however, Hartford is facing a Tucson team that many believe to be their stiffest competition in years. Tucson comes into the CFL bowl with the league’s leading passing attack featuring the one two combo of QB Eugene Paulk and WR Jim Brost who have connected for over 1,500 yards passing this year. Paulk and Brost led the league in passing and receiving yards, respectively. Together they are a tough challenge for any opponent, even the solid defense of Hartford.

Injuries play a large role in any championship and this year is no different. Injury at QB has Hartford starting a backup for the second time in four bowl appearances so It will be up to Hartford’s conference leading rusher Tarzan Hernandez to put points of the board for the Attack. Last week that job fell to rookie QB Dennie Hunter, who came in early and still propelled the Attack to victory over a tough Durham team. Whether they choose to start veteran backup Rico Fitzpatrik or the rookie Hunter, one thing is for sure neither of them has the talent or postseason experience of starter Stephen Geitka.

Instead of analyzing this game further I would love to get some predictions from some other owners who have played these great teams year after year.

Either way we are in for some more great CFL football!!!!

My Prediction Hartford by 7

Well Done Jander,

My prediction;

21-20 Tucson

Hartford will miss Geitka too much to win 4 in a row..

What running the ball with Tarzan might look like

Agreed,

Tarzan "the Latino Lord of Greystoke" Hernandez will lead the Attack to yet another CFL Championship. Too many weapons for Hartford even without Gietka, as long as they takes care of the ball.

Spread is Hartford by 5 and I think they will cover, but then again I don't bet often because I lose most times.

Congrats to both Fonzie and Masked.

I truly don't know what to expect in this one. I'd ordinarily feel pretty optimistic with Gietka out, but Paulk is also hurt and I have my doubts about what we'll get out of him. I'm gonna say 24-17 Hartford, but almost anything is possible.

My feeling is similar. I figured Tucson was the favorite until I realized Paulk was also injured. I hoping my slight advantage at the skill positions (notably, Cabbage, Martinez, and Tarzan) are enough.

I suspect it will be like our first CFL bowl match-up when the high scoring Tucson and Hartford offenses put up a combined 17 points.
